Motorola phones are the best IMO. My V551 is not much different from that 330 and I'm w/Cingular. It's been tops.

One thing to note, I do notice that phones with a camera are generally worse when it comes to signal. I'm dyin for a razor!!

I just bought a new phone, not a new provider. TMO has been great since I've been with them. Besides, they are my only option since I travel back and forth to Germany 2 or 3 times a year on business.

While travelling in Germany where do you buy an international SIM card from and how much is it?

When I'm on business, I just use my TMO phone from here. T-Mobile is a German company, so it feels right at home there (provided you have a tri- or quad-band phone).

But I also travel with another phone for personal calls to other Germans. (It makes it easy for them to call me if I have a German number.) And in that case, I think I spent 15 Euro for the SIM card from O2 Loop. That also bought me 10 minutes of talk time.

As you run out of money on your account, you can simply go to just about any kiosk and purchase more minutes in at least 10 or 20 Euro incriments. You just dial a number and dial the code and your account is credited.

Ok, it's really funny to watch you guys talk about phones because I'm one of those guys who switch phones every year. I've had like enough experience with phones.

Moto? Sucks. HANDS DOWN. They're made in China and if you look at QC, you can never beat companies like Samsung or Sony Ericsson.

I've had a V600 for a year and I've had experience with V300s, V60s, V710s, you name it, I've tried them. The UI just sucks and same with the slow OS. Furthermore the construction is just CHEAP.

And why do you people think the RaZr is such a wonderful phone? It's a V600 w/ different casing. Essentially, it's technology thats over 1.5 years old. I mean I guess I haven't seen many people with a V600 before because it was clearly a very expensive, cutting edge and high tech phone. Now I see everyone with RaZrs. Nothing special. I figure it always takes people like a year to catch onto technology I've been using. I used to get weird looks when using my Bluetooth headset. Still very few ppl use it. And now my K750i... people don't even recognize the phone nor the value behind such a kickass phone. A year later you will see people touting their Moto RoKrs as the best phone ever when I've moved onto who knows what....

the #2 button on my T616 stopped working recently so i got a motorola ROKR phone to replace it. a day later, i put it on ebay and ordered a Sony Ericsson K700i from the sony ericsson website for $200 (no plans or anything). i went this route because cingular doesnt have any midrange to high end SE phones anymore other than the S710a.

S710a is not that great IMO. K750i is much better. W800i even better (although a ripoff cuz with teh K750i you can just mod it or whatever)...

The best way to get your hands on SE phones is to go to these Asian stores that do crazy@$$ d eals cuz they will carry all these international phones (K700, K750, W800, Z800, you name it).

TMO pays best commission, so it's best to stay with TMobile for phone deals. Cingular will not get you as good deals.

I have a T-610 laying around. I hated it. Keys were sensitive, phone made weird noises during calls, the OS would freeze and I'd have to restart it. I no longer have T-Mobile and have gone back to Verizon.

Even the girl selling me the phone advised me not to get it, but I was thick. :p

Worst phone ever. Welcome to technology last year. If you got it with a 2yr contract with Cingular you got ripped. As for the T-Mobile deal.. ehh maybe, but this was ages old. Free RaZr? I could've gotten that in 2004.

SE K750i/W800i FTW!

I've had two motorola phones(ohh, i know, lots) but i had my first, a v 60, which i've dropped literaly hundreds of times straight onto concrete, prob 10 times from a FULL sprint, and once from a moving car at about 25mph ish, worked like a charm till i upgraded cuz i wanted a color phone w/ picture. I currently have a v400 i've had for a year, no full sprint drops, or car drops, but i've dropped it i'd say at least 50 times, and it works like a charm too. I love motorola phones, dont know what else to say but sucks to be u man.

WTH did you get the "ROKR"? AHAHAH I think it's funny as hell when people don't research their products/purchases.

Me too, I've at least six or seven old phones here.

Moto? Sucks. HANDS DOWN. They're made in China and if you look at QC, you can never beat companies like Samsung or Sony Ericsson.

Moto sucks- true. I've always hated their phones.
Sony Ericsson have had their share of problems though; the charger for my T610 died a while back, and I couldn't be bothered to send it back as I need it for work. So I bought a "charger nib" (tiny adaptor thing) that converts a Nokia charger (of which we have seventeen million) into a SE charger. Technically it's running the Nokia charger out of spec, but although it takes a bit longer to charge, it works fine. Testament to the quality of Nokia charges, IMHO.

Funny thing is, I've found the same with Samsung phones. I have an old A300 here, and the OS is slower than molasses. It's only a B&W screen, too.
Having said all that, I am biased against Samsung gear of any form (memory and TVs aside), as in my experience, most of it's junk. My Samsung DVD-ROM drive now rattles and vibrates when idling a disc, fails to read most things as well. I've had bad experiences with them :)

Yep. My S700i uses the exact same OS as the K-series phones, and it's a wonderful bit of software. They've also made some speed improvements since the T610 OS, which did drag its heels when typing text messages.

I still like Nokia phones, however. I have had a 3200, 1100, 6100, 7200, and a few more whose model numbers escape me. All of them have been fast, reliable and stable phones. The only complaint I have these days is that the guy who's designing their new phones is smoking a crapload of crack.

Actually, mine's been fine, less an issue with the charger.

I got mine a good six months after it was released, and apparently that was about the time that they got the firmware "right" at last.
Over here in the UK, you can send an SE phone to their service centre, and they upgrade the firmware for a nominal charge (£10 or so).

[Edit] Of course, it still has an issue with my Bluetooth headset where it drops the BT connection after 30 seconds of idling, which introduces a six-second answer delay while it get the connection back. My S700 doesn't do this, thankfully.

Me too. Never had a dropped call (including the Nokias and Samsungs I've had) reception and battery performance is awesome.

And don't pay attention to the people that bash them (delerium), as they have probably never had one, and haven't enjoyed the killer design.

I wanted the following:
Flip phone
Decent camera
MP3 ringtones

NOTHING fits in your pocket like the RAZR, and it feels very well built. I actually PAID for mine (oh the horrors) and don't regret one penny.

Damn haters. :D

it's tmobile that sucks.

but if it's the phone, that's what you get for getting a phone that was free-er than free, but tmobile actually gives you $100 back for getting.

and if you didn't get it for free, you overpaid.

Quick question: Do you screwballs shop for a phone first, and then a service provider, or the other way around?

So about two weeks ago, I buy a new phone through T-Mobile, a Motorola V330. My trusty 2-year-old Sony Ericsson T610 was showing signs of wear and tear. (The vibrate function was hit or miss and the joystick was no longer 100% responsive.) So tonight I try to call the GF. I must have tried 20 times, both with as little as 2 bars and as many as all 5, and after 20 seconds, I would get "call failed". And many times, after a failed call, the phone would crash and reboot if a second call attempt was made immediately after.

Jeebus, I almost threw the damned thing against the wall several times tonight! I guess the moral of the story is that a brand-new Motorola phone is sh!t compared to a 2yo Sony Ericsson!

This thing is going back to T-Mobile. In the mean time, i stuck the SIM card back into the T610, plugged it into the charger, turned it on, and now I'm back in business!

I'd blame it on that model (or that carrier) before I'd blame it on Motorola. Their Nextel line is second to none, as far as quality goes. ;)

True, my t610 on T-Mo sucks for reception, I love the phone hate the carrier.
