Motorcycle hoons

Well, it's that time of year again. You've got the responsible bikers out for a good time, then you got the folks hooning it up on their crotch rockets. This particular future organ donor was seen doing a wheelie at 120km/h (74mph) down a major highway, through the city in the middle of the day.

http://ca.autoblog.com/2013/05/07/high-speed-motorcycle-stunt-caught-on-toronto-highway-403/

This particular highway has a couple blind corners, tight curves, and fast approaching exits. Given the way Torontonians drive, he's lucky nobody smoked him.

120 km/h and 150 km/h

God we live in a country of completely "special" people, people do realize that those speeds aren't even fast for a car on the highway, let alone a sportsbike...

Slow news day indeed.

Btw do you have any idea what the law is around police chasing you while you are on motorcycle? I heard the OPP are only allowed to chase up to 140 km/h and then they are required to call it off, not sure if that's true.

"But but but the cagers are all trying to kill us" heh. Doing a good job of that by himself looks like. Good thing they got universal healthcare in Canadia.

And why is that crotch rocket riders are getting your blanket stereo typical judgement? Any dipshit on any type of bike is going to suck...Not just people riding sport bikes.

As somebody that rode sportbikes on the street for many years, and has ridden in many groups of sportbikes....
The stereotype is 100% justified...
When was the last time you saw somebody on a cruiser rolling down the highway at 100+ MPH?
It sucks for those that obey the laws for sure.. But the few have ruined it for the many

It's a very small percentage of sportbike riders that create the stereotype. On the other hand, I think 95% + of the Harley crowd rides around with no helmet, or novelty helmet, and an open exhaust.

I know which one I see far more often, and find far more annoying, especially at 4 a.m. when I'm trying to sleep.

That is a totally different stereotype, and I 100% agree with you..

The conception is what it is... Not going to change it at this point. But yes, a small percentage has ruined it for most.

How have they ruined it? Oh, you mean ruined it in your eyes... which they obviously don't care about anyway.

This is accurate in Minnesota, harley/cruisers never wear helmets...I don't get that.

It caused me to pretty much stop riding.

Every time I went to the mountains I was hassled by law enforcement. The locals hate you. I agree with him... The 5% of sport bike idiots ruined it for me as well.

It's very similar to bicyclists on the road. A small percentage cause EVERYONE to hate all bicyclists and have no respect for them.

That would have been me on my ultra.

Going fast and doing stupid shit are mutually exclusive.

That is why they have ruined it... I got pulled over more times on a sport bike for doing nothing than i can count..

I've been pulled over a handful of times on motorcycles. Each time I was speeding and the cops were cool and gave me a warning. In my experiences you're much more likely to get away with a ton more on a bike. Try running your car with straight pipes and see how that works for ya.

I've avoid all that nonsense by riding early in the morning and only on weekends.
During the summer months I'm out on the road before sunrise and the bike is back in the garage just around the time most people are leaving the house for weekend errands.
Empty roads.
Cops haven't started morning patrols.
Only nuisance are bicyclist.

At most I'll see the Goldwing guys meeting up for their 500 mile tours.

Harley (load pipes\formation riding) and Sportbike douches aren't out until after 10am.

You basically just contradicted yourself there....How can something be 100% true if only a few people are guilty of doing so?

And to answer your question...Yesterday..Pretty close. I was on my bike next to a guy on a HD. I was doing about 75 (the norm) and he blew by me. Taking that as a HD guy saying F you, I think gunned it to pass him. To pass him I had to do over 95mph.

And there weren't any cars near me so it was safe to do this.

From: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mutually exclusive

"being related such that each excludes or precludes the other <mutually exclusive events>; also : incompatible <their outlooks were not mutually exclusive>

[...]

<the two plans are mutually exclusive; implementing one will automatically rule out the other>"

Going fast does not automatically stop a rider from doing stupid shit. It is definitely possible to be doing stupid shit and going fast at the same time.

In fact, one could argue that going fast is automatically stupid, but let's not get into that. 😛

stuff like that gets us sportbike guys a bad image. I just like to go fast, while that is just as unsafe as doing wheelies, its just something i do from time to time.

The whole harley VS sportbike debate is rather dumb, both groups do many illegal stuff from what i can tell. But the stuff the harley guys do seems to be more socially acceptable.

Harley with no helmet, actually no gear at all other then a vest and shorts. They often do bar-hop and etc. Screaming eagle pipes and etc are most likely illegal sound decibels and all. If they could speed they would.

Sportbikes, you get the squids as well but not as much. We speed and zip-in and out. Some idiots like to do wheelies and etc.

It just seems when someone on a sportbike dies, many assume they were racing, speeding and didn't have gear on. Harley rider dies, they dont assume anything.

This is just from what i gather, nothing is based off anything just stuff i gather in my local area.

LOL - right on.

And going too fast is always stupid. But what's too fast for you may not be too fast for me

I've been pulled over once for speeding. And you know what? I was speeding at the time.

Guess things are just different where you and I live.

I also noted how the OP called that guy a future organ donor...And associates that with sportbike riders when about 90% of us riders wear at the bare min a helmet and gloves, while HD dudes are lucky to even put on a shirt. Only reason people who don't ride give in to the stereo type is because sportbikes can go faster than cruisers, and in general, the crowd who ride sportbikes are younger.

I work with a woman whose brother was on the waiting list for a liver. She told me that her brother's doctor said helmet laws have really cut down on the organs available for those waiting for donors. He died a couple months ago... he never rode a motorcycle. Said they were too dangerous.
