I didn't vote, but I own two bikes (an older Nighthawk and an 07 Sixxer) and this is all I will say on this subject:

I am a sportbiker, I wear leather gear head to toe anytime i'm out riding, so yes...

As for helmet laws...i'm indifferent. I don't think those skull cap things do much anyways..let the retards off themselves.

my friend was almost killed on his VFR back in 1990. If he wasn't wearing his full leathers and helmet, he would have died at the scene.

I sold my bike back in 2002, 1971 CB750 K.

I'm amazed it took till the second page for that to be posted. Also goes to why I won't wear a brain bucket or a 3/4 helmet

I'm completely against helmet laws, but i still never get on my motorcycle without one.

Here in Wisconsin it's our choice like it should be.

I wrecked my bike 2 weeks ago tonight. Without my helmet, I would not be here. Now that said, helmets are not mandatory in Florida, but I would be in support of a mandatory helmet law. Just like a mandatory seat belt law.

Like others have said, gear head to toe when I go out.

Any dealer worth a shit will give you gear when you buy a bike. Not the best stuff, but they will at least give you a helmet and jacket. At least here in Florida they do if you haggle with them just a little bit.

I'm on the fence. On one hand I think that this is an issue best left to the insurance companies. On the other hand, the insurance companies have knack for dumping long term liabilities on the taxpayers.

i wear my full face flip whenever I ride, and it's not the law here. I will admit that when I first got my bike I occasionally rode it around the neighborhood without one, and it took a little while for it to be habit. Thankfully I had it on a month later when I went down at around 25mph, and thankfully I was wearing a full face helmet and a heavily armored but ugly jacket. Helmet hit first, then shoulder as I went down the driveway. Rode home with a bruise on my leg. I keep meaning to get a pair of armored overpants, though I might leave them off on short rides even after I get them.

I think it should at least be a requirement for the first year. I can't ride two up for the first year on my license, and I think the helmet should be required for at least that long.

sigh. in the future all old atot hondas are to be sold to me for cheap

I ride.
I have been wearing a helmet before the government made it mandatory (here).
Yes, I do.

A helmet saved my friend's life. It would have been his bare head cracking against a curb if it hadn't been for his helmet. Enough said.

I support mandatory helmet laws. If I get in a wreck with a motorcycle rider and he dies, but would have lived had he been wearing a helmet, I would feel terrible. Alabama is a mandatory state. I live 20 minutes from Florida and there are no mandatory laws. 90% of the bikers I see DO NOT have helmets on.

The worst thing would be to be at fault for an accident, and then have someone die because of it.

From a financial liability point of few, especially if they are relatively young, it is much cheaper if they die.

I'm just saying.

I don't ride but don't support the mandatory laws. The only thing I am on the fence about it is the healthcare side of the issue. But if there was something like this in place:

I found that in Arizona at least (which doesn't have a helmet law) if you are in an accident which results in head injury and weren't wearing a helmet insurance can refuse to pay, despite fault. By contributing to the severity of the accident you are responsible for the cost.
Then I would definitely be against the laws.

My dad has been riding motorcycles all his life and is against mandatory law too. I'm not sure of all of his reasons, but I have heard him say it definitely reduces hearing and sight for him having one of those full-face helmets.

Right now I only have a 150, but I still have a helmet. For me the biggest motivator was the faceshield, I just got tired of getting hit in the face by bugs/rocks/whatever at 35-55mph. Also, I don't need to go on the highway often, but it scared the crap out of me to be on it without a helmet (dang Okie highways suck, bad), so that was another reason.

Edit: also I like this
