Moto Razr, HTC Rezound or wait for Galaxy Nexus?

I would like the rezound except for how thick it is and the locked bootloader.

Maybe thick on paper, but I don't think it felt all that thick in your hand. That actually was one of the things I liked about it.

I went with the Rezound also, the new Galaxy Nexus is larger all around.. I find the Incredible 2 to be the sweet spot size wise, and the Rezound is slightly larger.

Only thing really missing from the Rezound compared to the Galaxy Nexus is the NFC. Otherwise, pretty much the same spec wise (720p Screen, LTE). The Rezound also has a Micro SD slot which I find more important than NFC..

ICS is a given..

I guess you've held both phones? The Gnex felt that much bigger than the Rezound? And what's so important about a micro SD slot? I don't recall ever taking one out of a smart phone. That's what the USB cable is for.

By the time NFC is even useful the GNex will be long obsolete. The on-screen buttons take away from your screen resolution. .....

NFC not useful? Is that speculation? - I've seen it used a few times here and there and thought it was pretty cool. The on-screen buttons do not take away from the screen size when playing a movie. AND, the screen is larger to compensate for the on-screen buttons.

I had a Rezound for a couple weeks, I found the phone to be somewhat laggy in performance, especially browsing. Also, I've had bad luck with OS upgrades on HTC phones. Maybe its just me, but my Eris and my DInc were both problematic after being pushed an upgrade.

What's this NFC thou speaketh of?

Near Field Communication

The part of NFC I'm most looking forward to is not having to touch those germ-covered touchscreens and styluses (styli?) all the time...

Here is a size comparison:

When I went into the Verizon store a few days ago the attendent pretty much told me to wait for the nexus. Almost all of the sources I can find predict it will hit stores within a week.

I have not actually held the nexus, but it is only 3mm wider than the rezound, and not as wide as the razor. The razor is awkward to hold because it is so thin, and it has that huge bezel.

At this point I would recommend anyone waiting to at least see what the nexus is like!

The razr is some overhyped crap by Verizon with locked boot loader and infested with vcrap apps. Only get it if you dig into the Droid themes like their ringtone sound and childish wallpapers. Droid is not a serious phone. Next month they will release whatever new phone to belittle this current one.

The only thing needed with the REZOUND is S-OFF. Once that's achieved, pretty sure it'll end up being supported via Cyanogenmod 9 for almost pure google experience (without carrier bloat which the Nexus will also have).

Was really internally debating the Galaxy Nexus vs Rezound.. If I wasn't on Verizon, then I probably would have gotten the Nexus (International GSM model).

i own a rezound, but it went bootloop. so i had to send it in and apparently it takes a couple weeks or so turnaround (had to send it to htc since i didnt get it at verizon directly).

so that said ill probably get a nexus next week whenever it comes out and give it a spin since verizons return policy on it is extended.

like i do not get the fascination with thinness honestly. the rezound does feel fine in your hand and its less wide than the razr/nexus.

i mean who says fatter, but less wide is worse than thin but wide. like if the cellphone manufacturers and people who apparently have brainwashed the public into what they should think is "contemporary" electronics design i.e. apple designed sports car steeringwheels, we'd have super thin wheels with no grip, but somehow everyone woudl believe it was a good thing while being made out of brushed aluminum and not leather.

I got the 111$ razr deal and loving it. i can't root my phone due to company policy so that doesn't matter to me. big upgrade over my bb torch piece of crap i had...

I have the Rezound... really love the feel of it. Yes its thicker than a razr but so is everything else.. its still a normal sized phone compared to what else is out there.

The screen is RIDICULOUS and i find it hilarious that multiple reviews complain of stutter in the gui... i've noticed it like twice.. and it was for literally a quarter of a second both times.

I don't get the design of the razr. Its thin but has such a wide bezel that the end result is an oddly large phone that is awkward and ugly, "but its really thin". I must not fall into whatever mysterious demographic they were targeting...

That and the locked bootloader is what's keeping the phone down for me. Otherwise it would have been an amazing phone. The build quality is bar none.

Really? I had it for a couple weeks, I never had a smooth browsing experience with it. Other than that it's a nice phone
