Mother offering me $1000 to paint our house. take it?

I'm of two minds on this. I should get out and look for a job and not just stay home like i have been the past 2 months. But it's also a nice chuck of change for somethinf i don't mind doing. And it needs to be done, would cost 4 or 5 time this if we get it professionally done. I'm talking reprinting the whole house so it's not a small amount of work but like I said I don't mind doing it.

And to be honest I'm not sure I will spend the time any more productively if I don't do it.

As for amount of area to paint my rough calculation is

House is 2300 square feet. However not ALL of it needs to be repainted. A good portion of the upstairs is wallpapered. Off the top of my head let's see:

My room,living room, office, hallways and connecting space (this is not small), some parts of the basement.

40-50% roughly, sooo very roughly about the amount of work of painting the whole interior of an 1150 square foot house? The ceilings are hard to say at this point. Some of it definitely, some of it doesn't need to be done. Course you have to factor in moving all the furniture as well.

Have you done it before or are you going to fuck over your parents by doing a shitty job. Painting a house is not an easy task, I've done one before and I probably will never do it again because it was such a pain in the ass.

Not to mention I'm sure you'll do it one day and then bitch to us about it until we beat you into submission.

You don't seem to have much "stick" to you...you quit everything you start. What makes you think you'd actually finish this?
Painting a house is a lot of work...especially if you do it right.
 
I remember painting my bedroom at my parent's house before. I chose a dark blue color, and the walls were white. What a pain in the ass that was.
 
Your parents are using you. They want you perpetually at home because they are probably as fucked up as you are and you are a convenient source of conversation and entertainment. You can expect that they'll use you for shitty small jobs for the rest of their life.

(Speaking based on experience with my uncle who is virtually identical to you and my grandparents.)

I know where this opinion comes from based on what I have posted. But the truth is that there are many things that i have done that I have put more effort and time into than the average person would or could. When I set my mind to doing something and have made up my mind and it's something I really want to do myself few people work as hard or as diligently as I do. Small example? I want to lose weight. I'm doing 80mins of workout every day and eating much less religiously. There is no fucking quiting that will happen on this, I will lose the weight period! Same thing with other things I set my mind to. When anxieties have interfered that is different but those are very different circumstances whether you chose to believe me on that is not of my concern.

See above. I don't do things 1/2 assed once I make up my mind. And I know the amount of work, I've painted numerous individual rooms in the past.
 
Seems like you should do it free. That would be the noble approach. You'd be closer to the ideal human then. In practical terms, it's $1,000 for being home like you are anyway. Take the money. It's useful, and you'd be doing your parents a favor, but not as much a favor as if you did it free :^P

What other things are you thinking of that they use me for? I'm the one using them smarty. I've offered to pay rent, and pay for many other things besides, they never accept the offer.

See above. When my mother offered I said I can do it for free. Fuck knows I owe it to them. They refuse to accept it for free.
 
Dont you have like 65k saved up? Do it for free, or say your doing it for pay and then just never accept. How hard is that?
 
You are a lazy fool for even asking this question. You would be helping your family, saving them money, AND earning a good chunk of cash at a time when you don't have any other work. It's a no-brainer and stupid of you to even question it.

Such an innocent soul you don't even see it. 🙁

They basically know in their minds that you won't be able to make it on your own, and want to keep it that way with you around like a helpless puppy that makes them feel good having something to take care of. I'm not saying you can't live independently (you did for at least a little while, right?) and your family history of crazies didn't prevent any of them from ultimately leaving. They're enabling your condition.

This. Even if you take the money, use it for some home improvement project like garage cabinets, fix up a deck, etc.
