The ceilings are hard to say at this point. Some of it definitely, some of it doesn't need to be done. Course you have to factor in moving all the furniture as well.

Ceilings? Hell no! I'd be asking at least double, lol. I had to paint one (goes up to about 15ft in the middle I guess) because of water spots from years ago. Holy hell was that awful. You don't realize how much harder it is to paint the ceiling than normal walls until you start, and then immediately regret it. Gives you a decent work out though.

Yes I do realize this. Luckily not much needs to be done for most of them. A little bit here and there. The worst part of it is that these are stucco ceilings too. Little bits of stucco and paint raining down on you all the time.

Don't do it. The toxic paint fumes will shorten your life and gives you the cancer. You can't buy your health back with a measely $1000.

😵 Why do anything with this view. There are far more toxic things one can do than paint a house. Modern paint is certainly not toxin free but we aren't talking the old days of lead based everything. Besides I like the feeling of getting mildly high off the paint fumes. 😛

are you fat? It could help

I'm doing 80mins of workout on the treadmill every day now and eating much less. I'm quickly losing weight. This will help sure but not as much as what I'm doing now.

And as for exact weights. I'm 6'2 and at max was 255. I'm 235 right now and plan to get down to about 180 or so. I've been down there and even much less as well in the past.

Good thing that yyour doing somehting about it.

I am 5' 10 going from 135 to 150

Sloppy to work with. They flip little droplets of paint everywhere. It's just a messier experience. With a brush, I barely need a dropcloth. That's for "just in case" accidents, but I seldom spill with a brush.

Good rollers and proper technique will not have drops flinging everywhere. I have done a lot of painting in my life and the only drops I really get are with high texture ceilings (popcorn)...most of those are due to the popcorn falling.

Also choosing the right nap for the job is also important.

If she is rolling in dough and you are not... yes. If she has no dough... be a good son and paint it for free. Not that difficult.

Interior... yes
Exterior, it'll be a pain in the arse for a noob. Professionals with experience will get it done with a small fraction of the work it takes for a first timer. Speaking from personal experience. My mom also offered me $1k to paint the house.

Looks like OP has found his new future job. Perfect for him as he can stay at home forever, make a few bucks from his parents, and continue to post on ATOT for our entertainment! win-win-win!

So looks like I'll be doing this 😛 And No it's no career 😉

Now to sit down and think about colours. Though I'll probably have to use paint we already have to use it up, so that will restrict the colours.

Do it. I just painted my place and it only cost me money and a bunch of time to do it. Heck, for a grand I'd paint your place. 😛

LOL. Come now with the salary you make? Let's be honest with ourselves here. Admit it you wouldn't paint my place for 1k. 😉

I got it! Take a 2-3 hundred of that $1000.00 and hire a painter off Craigslist or whatever for a half day or day to instruct you on technique and equipment. I am sure even a couple hours of help from a pro would help tremendously, and you will end up being glad you did so.

At the very minimum, do a lot of reading up and asking questions on an appropriate forum. As many others have said, exterior painting is very different than slapping some latex up in a 12'x12' bedroom. Your performance will effect the homes value negatively or positively, and you seem like a smart enough guy to do some research.

Then, find a small area hidden from street view and experiment until you and your family is happy with the results, then roll it out to the rest of the house.

It's the interior and I've painted enough rooms in the past to know how to do a good job of it. But thanks for the input. 😛
