Most worthless item you ever purchased for yourself?

About 7 years ago I bought a carpet shampooer for our Kirby.
It was a worthless POS.

I'm super finicky and mega-cheap so it damn near kills me if I buy something that doesn't work out.
That's the last thing I can think of where I really fvcked up.

wow, that really sucks...how many shares did you have?

Not too bad, like 20-25 or so. It was about a $1K loss though. I was in college then, so it seemed more painful at the time!

Star Wars Galaxies. I bought the collector's edition ($80) and signed up for a year of online service ($160, I think) before realizing what a total unfinished POS that game was. Of course, Sony had a policy of not refunding any prepurchased time. So, of my 13 months, I played about 3 weeks before giving up on that crap.

i'd have to say my CD collection from the mid nineties. boy what a mistake...

LOL I was thinking the exact same thing when I read your thread title.

I recently was doing some cleaning in my room and I went through my old CD's I bought in the 90's as well. I picked up the "Friends" soundtrack and thought to myself, "ok, WTF was I thinking when I bought this?". I hastily proceeded to throw that POS into the trashcan.

1. a telescope. got it for about 100 bucks at sears. The novelty lasted about a week, but it was cool to see the moon really close. so i took it and exchanged it for a $100 socket set. best thing i could have done. that socket set has been used a lot!

2. a Espresso/cappicino (sp) maker. like the telescope was fun for about a week but it quicky wore off. i have had it for about 10 years and last weekend it went in the trash.

The telescope only sucked because you got a cheap department store one.
