don't judge. everyone either raves or hates geddy lee. you're just a hater. besides, he's also a better guitarist than most rock guitarists these days. and chris pennie is the best drummer right now....
...funny that people mention geddy and have no problem, and explain his high pitch, but I mention Claudio Sanchez and foghorn gets all upset. figures.
That isn't true. I don't like Geddy Lee or Rush, but I appreciate them for their immense talent.
C&C doesn't really have anything close to Rush, don't even start comparing them.
i'm not comparing to Rush as far as musical talents go. but obviously you or Anubis have not heard most of their music. tell me you've heard something that doesn't sound like poppy rock music, and maybe I'll believe you. Because that's what most of their radio music is.
Have you played Rock Band? If so, their song Welcome Home is in it. Great song. They have great progressive-rock stylings throughout all their albums but don't necessarily go the prog-rock ways of Rush, but sometimes sound similar and make hints to drawing some style from them (although Claudio claims he is not really a fan of Rush and didn't listen to them until people were saying they sounded like them. true or not? no clue).
songs like:
Time Consumer, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth, the Velorium Camper song series (1-3), Cuts Marked in the March of Men, The Light the Glass, 2113, Welcome Home, Apollo I, the Willing Well series (I-IV, IV being The Final Cut, a great tribute to Pink Floyd), No World For Tomorrow, The Hound (of blood and rank), Feathers, Mother Superior, Gravemakers and Gunslingers, and The End Complete III and V are great great songs, many of them showing influences to some of the greatest rock songs of yesteryear.
(btw, songs listed in order of release. time consumer being off their first official release. some songs also listed are not necessarily anywhere near top quality, but I like the different sounds in each and every one of those songs. i personally can listen to all of their music without a problem, but sometimes tend to skip over other songs if I'm just picking a song here and there to listen to.)
if you can listen to those, and claim none of them are good.. then okay, your a hater. I've known MANY people to dislike Co&Ca and still like at least a couple of those songs.
to not like their music is opinion, and I don't mind. not everyone likes the same styles of music. me? i cannot stand rap. however, to say they have no talent is completely wrong.
sadly the drumming on the latest album is supposedly written by Chris Pennie, however performed by Taylor Hawkins. I think either Pennie dumbed it down, or Hawkins did. because the drumming is rather basic throughout the entire album. the previous albums were the bands regular drummer, Josh Eppard, who left 'for personal reasons'. rumor has it he was basically dropped from the band after some problems and confrontations.
regardless, this will be my last post about them in this thread. you have my word. just give some of those songs a listen if at all possible. i am in no way saying they are greater than the music of yesteryear, however, they are great on their own accord.
lyrically though, and for purpose of understanding the sound of each song, it helps to understand that every line is apart of the greater concept story and has meaning. you don't need to know the story to enjoy, but that takes the edge of some of the more disturbing lyrics their songs tend to have.
