Stagg "Chili" is that horseshit with tons of beans and other crap like Bell Peppers in it. It's also the consistency of soup

So reducing your sodium intake is actually bad for you? No shit. Maybe it's because sodium is one of the most important parts of your diet.

So it's basically the same as those bullshit studies showing aspartame and marijuana cause brain damage and tumors. In the marijuana study, researchers forced monkeys to inhale nothing but smoke, then they reported that the monkeys had severe brain damage. No shit. The brain damage is caused by oxygen deprivation.

People who try to reduce their salt intake often end up feeling like shit. This is because the adrenal glands heavily rely on sodium. Reducing your salt intake below what your body needs causes extreme fatigue, confusion, headaches, and memory loss.
I've been saying this since I was a teenager:
  • Cholesterol can increase blood pressure
  • Cholesterol builds up in arteries, causing blockage and constriction
  • Cholesterol causes heart attacks
  • Salt can increase blood pressure
  • Salt does not build up in arteries
  • Salt does not cause heart attacks
  • High blood pressure does not cause heart attacks

I don't know why that's so hard for people to understand.

If that's the most ridiculous label you've ever seen, then you've obviously never been to Asia.

Well, I don't know about that level of removing salt from one's diet. More like just trying to not eat 3x the recommended daily amount. A Subway sandwich already has like half your daily amount in a 6 inch sub.

I've heard some people say that salt is the "lesser of two evils" and that adding salt can make a reduced fat diet more palatable. If it helps you stick to a healthier diet, that seems like reason enough to not worry as much about salt. Of course it all depends on the specific person's health.

I don't know about that. The problem with a low fat diet is it's low fat. I can't see adding salt improving that. Almost everything I've had that was low fat also had low flavor, and bad texture. The one notable exception I can remember is some organic snack cakes I used to get. They used honey to add moisture, and it gave them a good mouth feel, and good taste. Of course they used a fair amount of honey. If someone's eating them for weight loss, I'm not sure that's a better option than fat :^D
