That's what I've been told. So is there any truth to this?

I find that hard to believe. That is unless the rest of that includes half of them getting a divorce.

Most people meet their first spouse by age 19.

But like with houses it's usually just a "starter marriage."

This is the case for me, I met my future wife at age 17 and after 2 years together we got engaged. I now look forward to our wedding in August. Don't know if this is very typical though, as I have plenty of friends who got married after 21.

I think this is just generalized BS.

I didn't start dating till I was 20. Having a serious relationship in your teens is just asking for trouble.

This sounds like BS to me. But it might be true if the entire worlds population were under consideration?

I met my wife when I was 16 and she was 15.
We were in high school then and boh our parents were against us because we were too young.
We did not have any expectation about the future.
Just take it day by day.
12 years later, we were married (last year).
From all our friends from high school, there is only 2 other pairs that were also highschool sweetheart (that are maried now).
I guess there is some truth to that but probably a minority case.

I met my fiance when I was a sophomore in college... I was 19 or 20 then and we were just really good friends. We didn't start officially dating until junior year.
