Rambus is very good for some devices (low pincount - good for cheap designs). It doesn't matter that RAMBUS was 900$ for a 128MB stick when your device only needs 1MB, and a DDR design would need a much more expensive (more than 9$ more expensive) printed circuit board.
However, on the PC side it had a slow start and took a big nosedive, mainly based on cost considerations (having at most the same performance as the DRAM of the days never helped).

 At first, i thought a little CD would be great, but i never bought one. Almost nobody else did either. Oh, thanks JParker001 for your input.

MD has its purpose and it's a niche. They wouldn't admit it then. I guess digital media players have taken over. I use MD to record rehearsals with the band. I don't mind it being a little compressed data. There wasn't anything more handy available then. DAT recorders were good, but not as handy. Today's mediaplayers weren't available or in its infancy. I still like the idea of the floppy-like housing. Something DVDs really mis in my opinion. Ever rented one?
