Most impressive muscle group - and least impressive?

Obviously, this is subjective, but what muscles do you find more enviable and what muscles do you find that couldn't care less about?

For me-

1) impressive muscles :

Forearms, Calves, and occasionally deltoids

2) Unimpressive muscles :

Biceps and triceps
Pectorals (considering how easy they are to train)
Abs

3) Random peeves:

Guys with chicken legs/thighs and huge upper bodies - gross

Pencil necks and otherwise decent build

Most impressive - quads and back
Least - Arms, only due to the fact that so many guys come into the gym and only work arms.

Most impressive - Legs, they're massive. I'm pretty happy with my back too it's not all that strong but there's a lot of muscle back there for some reason.

Least impressive - pecks, forearms

I like the serratus as well. It really separates the moderately cut people from the shredded in a lot of cases. I can tell when I'm above 10% bf because my serratus starts to disappear, it's like a barometer 😛

Other than that, honestly, I think any part can be impressive. I have huge forearms and upper arms so I'm not usually impressed by those on others. I had a friend once who played soccer, and had amazing calf genetics. The combination of those two led him to have probably 20" calves. This is on a kid who was 5 11 maybe 160. Probably the most impressive development I've seen on someone.

Calves are a funny thing, I actually don't think it's all genetics as some people claim.

From what I see with people, as long as your heavyish (175+) and short (stubby legs), you almost naturally have good sized calves. If you do any sort of training, then it balloons.

yeah, calves are bizarre. Mine are dense...but they're quite long, so they don't look that big. They look skinny actually, but if I sit down, and flex them, you can see how big they are.

The taller you are and longer your leg bones are, the harder it is to train big calves.

I suppose. I'm only 5 10 though. I actually have a short lower body. My calves really don't look like they belong on my body lol

The funny thing is that big, long, good-looking calves are actual bad for any sport that requires running. It really messes with the weight distribution of the lower leg, making it harder to swing. The fastest individuals always have calves inserted very close to the back of the knee. It really increases running efficiency.

My favorite part is probably my back, considering it's the only thing I've been able to consistently work over time. My less than impressive area is my deltoids. My previous shoulder injury has really affected their size. The problem is being alleviated nowadays though 🙂

rectus abdominis. 8 pack or go home. also obliques. also serratus anterior. that whole thing. or maybe i just like looking in the mirror.

Gross... I'll add one to my list, I don't care for abs or 4, 6 or 8 packs (unless they are good beers)... at all.

:\ And why would any straight guy give a shit what you thought about their abs?

Out of all my muscles I work at I'm impressed with my abs, hell just that fact that I have them at my age.

The number of visible abs your have is dictated by genetics. You don't just get more abs by trying harder.

I SED 8 PAK OR GO HOME!

True, but they get more defined by trying harder. If I don't try at all I have a measly 6 pack. Unless I'm mistaken at times it starts to look like 10. Definitely usually 8 though.

I'd have to be anorexic to have an 8 pack. It's definitely genetic so I guess I'd be going home.

This thread is about impressive muscles, not muscles you find sexually attractive. 🙄

Abs don't impress me.

Well that's ridiculously inane.

Impressive is clearly a subjective term. What you find impressive is different from what someone else finds impressive. Red - as someone that's not a 15 year old virgin - finds having abs impressive, as his demographic typically does not have them. if you ask me, that's a pretty damn good definition.

You know what? I'll bet he drank whole milk at some point throughout his life and didn't die by age 40, either. Try again, champ.

Trust me, he died at 35.
