The media hypes it up as the most important U.S. election in history every time there is an election. It kinda loses its significance even if it legitimately is the important election in history. If the media hadn't hyped it the way it has, would it still be the most important election in history? They pick apart anything and everything the candidates do .... right or wrong.

Oh look...Barack Obama sneezed ... a special report at 9:00! :disgust:

And the corporate media blitzkrieg continues ...

The country is at stake this time.

Do you honestly believe the U.S. would continue to exist if Republican rule continued to dominate?

Why yes, yes I do.

I don't like either candidate, but I'm so sick of hearing about "change" I could puke. I don't want change, I want improvement. I want 50% of the federal government fired out of hand, I want every tv mouthpiece demanding that the feds take over my life hanged at dawn. I want every wealthy bleeding heart actor in Hollywood spouting off about how I need to pay more in taxes stripped of every cent they have. Mostly, I just want every asshole in this country to stop riding to power on the promise of giving away MY money.

I'd love a perz who's only goal was to stay out of the way.

That phrase is almost as annoying as news stations using BREAKING NEWS for every little news item or update (CNN in particular does this).

Sounds like there's nobody for you to vote for this cycle.

I'm sure that'll be the case in 2012 as well. These parties just aren't set up to give up power.

Arguably, they're always right when they say that. We can't change the past, but we can influence the future, which is what makes the election so important.

Yes, in fact I'd be willing to bet that at least 99% of the world would agree with me.

I thought they keep saying that race shouldn't be an issue? Is it important or isn't it? Let us know before we vote.

Either a black president, or a woman vice president. Yes, it will be an important election.

I just hope Obama knows WTF he's doing since it looks like he will win. After all the debates ans speeches I still have no idea what his plan for the country is. (Other than cross Pakistan's border if he so chooses.)

In fact, it's not an important election. The race or sex of the prez is irrelevant. What matters is that we get someone with a vision, a goal to achieve and some idea of how were going to get there. That isn't on the table this time around. What were going to get is more of the same crap that's been going on for years, with different labels hung on it. That's what "change" is.

All government is evil, some government is necessary.

Either he is just using his gift of magical oratory to win people over, or he is truly naive about how fucked Congress has been for... the last few decades, given and take a few years.

No amount of change he hypes will likely ever take root, unless he's gifted with a Democratic congress as well. If Obama wins, and there is a democrat-majority in congress... we are truly fucked.
This goes beyond partisan debates. President and the Congressional-majority should never be the same party, or else a ton of shit will get passed that should never see the light of day.
Unless of course there is ever a day where the Libertarian party actually becomes a major party, and then, there's a decent chance of some real beneficial things coming to fruition if Libertarians control Congress, or Constitutionalists. :p But even then, some bad shit would come down the pipe too.

Well, Clinton was president for almost three weeks of 2001. Those three weeks (shady pardons included) are not as bad as the next eight years.
