The media hypes it up as the most important U.S. election in history every time there is an election. It kinda loses its significance even if it legitimately is the important election in history. If the media hadn't hyped it the way it has, would it still be the most important election in history? They pick apart anything and everything the candidates do .... right or wrong.

Oh look...Barack Obama sneezed ... a special report at 9:00! :disgust:

And the corporate media blitzkrieg continues ...

Did they hype the 2000 ones as the most important?

Well, like I said ... this MAY WELL BE the most important election in U.S. history but the media saying that every time there is an election makes it trite.

They also had some Congressman on The Daily Show awhile ago who said that Americans were "beyond" the usual idiocy (The other candidate is a terrorist/old/hick/etc), and that they were finally going to be mature and informed about this election.

I'm not sure if he actually believed it, or, more likely, if he was simply pandering by saying that he thinks we're all just so gosh-darned smart.

In other news, I just heard that Obama ate McCain's transvestite-son's adopted baby, while chanting "Death to America!" and that McCain has suspended his 2008 presidential bid until 2012. Totally true, I swear. Palin 2008!!!!

I don't remember any election during my lifetime being called the most important election in history until after Bush (W) was elected. I guess that's his legacy?

It's only important if there is a meaningful difference between the candidates.

From what I can tell, both will leave the US a bunch of smoldering ruins before their term is done.

Well one is a clear war monger. The other on many of his policy fronts is nothing stellar either, fervently promising "change" as the cure for all of America's ills. Politics, most often, is a choice between the lesser of two/three/"n" evils.

We're over halfway there already so it shouldn't take a lot of effort. I'd say they're both qualified to turn us into a third-world nation.

You know, I realized yesterday that Bush was/is by and far the worst president of the century. Your thoughts?

That makes this election the most important by default?

The country is at stake this time.

Do you honestly believe the U.S. would continue to exist if Republican rule continued to dominate?

By the same token, wouldn't he also be the best?
