most expensive PC hardware you've bought

First peice of REALLY expensive PC hardware I bought, My radeon 9800pro, then my 7800GS+.

happy, happy. I was a lot more happier with the purchase of my 9800pro than my 7800GS+ because I didn't feel nearly as forced as I was when I bought the 7800GS+ since I was worried that they would run out of stock and therefore I wouldn't be able to buy my self a card.

1. Opteron 165 and Microsoft Windows XP Pro.
2. Yes. Go Microsoft EPP! (hookups pwn)... Otherwise games would be #1 for me.

1a) Dell 2005FPW, $560 including tax in January 2005
1b) Software...probably not much over $60-70, cheap university licensing agreements FTW! 😛

2) Yes, I'm quite happy with the monitor even though you can probably get a better one for half the price these days.

My most expensive single item would be my 19" lcd. They were a lot more expensive when I got it than they are now...

My most expensive software would be Windows Media Center.

I'm plenty happy with them.

1a) Pentium 4 EE 3.2 socket 478 - the day it came out $1008
1b) Adobe Photoshop CS2 ($649)

Not happy with the CPU (it was fast, but cost waay too much), but have been very happy with my copy of photoshop.

x1900xt... yeah, still happy (even though it gets pretty warm).

the most expensive comparitively-wise, however, has to be my lian li v1000 (with window) case... over $200. yes, i'm completely happy.

oh, my 2005fpw was pretty expensive, too. yes, i'm happy with that, too.

component- about $249 for a Soundblaster 1x cdrom drive kit. Happy.

software - $99 for Excel 4.0 Happy

Hardware, probably my Acer AL2423Wdr 24inch Widescreen LCD ... around $700
Last year I spent about $800 on a 27inch 720P LCD-TV that I was using as a computer monitor until I got the 24inch (now the 27inch is just being used as a TV)

Software, Windows XP Pro, I think it was $130 or $150 or something around there.

hehe, i have the same case but without a window. i'm sick of colored leds fans shining at night when i'm trying to sleep.

and i spent $300 on x2 3800+ windsor about two or three weeks before the price plummeted. other than that, i could've saved the money and spend on 7950gx2.

those bitter days 🙁

I bought a VL-Bus Diamond Stealth 64 VRAM a while back, and that cost $300 in during a time before fast video cards were that popular. But that thing was fast for its day.

Probably my current GPU. Cost i nthe $200-$300 BALL PARK.

aLSO HAVE SOME HOME DESIGN SOFTWARE (PROFESSIONAL STUFF) THAT COST $2k+. mY FATHER IN LAW ACTUALLY BOUGHT IT ... NEVER USED IT ... GAVE IT TO ME.

Hardware: $200 for 19" widescreen lcd
Software: $60 for Halo 2

Halo 2 was the biggest dissapointment of all time for me, but the LCD is awesome 😀

Either my 9700 All-in-wonder pro for $400ish or my 19" Samsung LCD for $700 (which was a smokin hot deal at the time 😱)

Hardware: Dell 2001FP, $749 Very happy, still use it to this day. Even bought a second one later for $400 less.
Software: XP Pro, also quite happy.

toss up between $185 for a Plextor 8/4/32 CDRW back in the day and 300-400 for my 2001FPW, the cd burner just feels like it was more expensive though.

you definitely don't know what the purpose of a "topic title" is versus a "topic summary". i feel like i've already lectured you on this when i was more active on the forums. kind of sad how things don't change much.

Juno: windows are lifesavers, literally. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...hreadid=1466853&enterthread=y&arctab=y

the images don't work anymore, but i'll put them up somewhere else maybe

and no, i don't use silly LEDs either.
