I paid over $600 CAN for my X1900-XTX. Most expensive piece of hardware for me. Yes, I'm happy with it.

Most expensive software was an early version of BlackIce Defender that never worked.

single piece of hardware?

Well, I've purchased two FX-57's a couple months apart for $1034 and $1075 as well as my FX-60 for $1072.

I've also purchased an SLI config of 7800GTX's, 7800GTX512's and 7900GTX's for $1238, $1529 and $1258 respectively :)

I now own none of those and have a Conroe E6600 and 7950GX2 and am plenty happy with them :)

Oh, and all of these purchases have been made since July 2005 :Q am I the winner?

As far as worst bang for the buck, compared to what I've bought lately, I would say it would have to be a less than 1GB hard drive. I recently found the receipt, and it was over $900. It was like 750mb, and that was back in the 386 days. I remember the shop that sold it to me told me that I would never be able to fill a drive that big.

Dell 3007 WFP monitor ($1740 shipped/taxed). I'm very happy with it except that it has a pixel stuck in blue on the lower-right.

Most expensive piece of hardware i've ever bought is my Dell 1800fp. I got it for $400, when at the time they were selling for $550. I thought it was a steal! (and it might have been too, I got if from the FS/FT forums :p). Hell yea I'm happy with it. Still using it over 3 years later.

Software? I dunno. Probably the command and conquer battlechest several years back.

$3000 for a Computer, Pentium 133. Yeah baby!

I'm sure you could break out some component in there like the processor for $800 or that 4GB HD.

I think the single most expensive part was my Northwood P4 3.0. I bought it when it was a high end chip. $300+?

If you exclude waaaaaayyyyyy back in the day when I actually bought PCs. Like squish above me it was a Pentium 133. Mine was made by Acer.

My Tandy TRS80 Color Computer 32k ram upgrade $350 and for software I would have to go with my yearly Microsoft Action Pack license $299 which I have maintained for 4 years now.
