Most disappointing athletes over the past few years *poll*

Lol, before I even clicked on this thread I was going to say it has to be Miner even though I doubted he's be up there. Surprised to see anyone remembers him actually. Frankly I think the Grumpy Jr. is the most disapointing but my vote goes to Miner since he just sort of disapeared... Baby Jordan my ass.

Edit: Toss the Boz up on that list while you're at it.

Lol yeah, didn't think anyone would remember him either.

What'd he do?

#1 Pick in the 1993 NHL Draft, was projected to be the next Wayne Gretzky. Drafted by Ottawa, signed to the largest contract ever for a rookie, and was a complete bust. He actually had the skills to back up his billing, I think he snapped under the pressure after he was drafted (either that or he was too damn lazy to do anything like try). He spent a few years in the minors and was actually out of hockey for a few years. These days I think he tried a comeback with Pittsburgh but didn't do a whole lot. He's considered the ultimate lesson that you shouldn't place too much faith in the first few draft picks.

I put Grant Hill, because his injuries and stupid, unprepared comebacks have screwed his whole team for what? three seasons now? They have so much money tied-up in a guy who can't play, it's ridiculous.

I was wondering about Miner... he disappeared before he really accomplished anything (except didn't he win the Slam Dunk Contest?)

Brien Taylor gets the "Stupidest Athlete" award, right up there with a recent honorable mention to Jay Williams. For those who don't know, Taylor was a fireballing pitching prospect the Yankees drafted. He got a huge contract at something like age 17, and was supposed to be the Next Big Thing in pitching. Not long after, he got into a bar fight and ruined his shoulder. Moron. Jay Williams, for those under a rock, was the 2nd overall NBA pick last year who just destroyed his leg in a motorcycle accident.

Griffey? Meh, he never was good enough to carry a team, so he never won. Now age is catching-up to him, big deal.

The Big Hurt won the MVP a couple times, sure, but he's been on a team which is cursed, so what can you say if he sucks?

Mo Vaughn doesn't count, because everyone on the Mets has been a disappointment.

As for the hockey guy, whatever. 😛

As a Knicks fan, though, LJ is the biggest disappointment of course.

Great idea for a thread, btw. 😀

IIRC, he was defending his brother who was getting beat pretty bad. I may be wrong tho, it was a while back.

How can Larry Johnson be on this list? Are you a complete and utter moron that is a closet homo that knows nothing about sports?

Ryan Leaf- at least several of the other guys had some productive years. Ryan Leaf would have had a higher career passer rating if he threw the ball into the ground every time he dropped back- seriously.

I know its not recent, but the most disappointing athelete to me was Len Bias- he could have been one of the greatest.
