Hot goes on the left, cold goes on the right. (for plumbers and laborers anyway...normal people can figure out the second if they know the first)

I can think of a few construction jobs I'd like less than rod busting, but there aren't many of them. Roofing, and paving come immediately to mind.

I worked a few paving jobs when I was an apprentice. NOT a fan of asphalt. Concrete paving is much better. Roofing? FTS.

That's a tough call. Roofers have meth to get them through the day, all the rod busters I knew were felons trying to get their lives together so they stayed away from drugs.
I used to have a roofing sub that had a pretty tight crew of 5 fellows. They had almost a full set of teeth between them.

I once hired a questionable fellow because I was really short handed. He claimed to have 2 or 3 years experience. He was helping me hang siding and the fractional part of the first measurement he gave me was 9/17. The guy couldn't read a tape measure. I kept him as a laborer carrying material and cleaning up. In three weeks he called in sick twice and both times he flat out told me he was to drunk to work. I fired him the second time. He called me about a year later wondering what job he was supposed to go to in the morning, I told him he didn't work for me anymore and he responded with "I'm fired?".

Dude just goto Spectrum/ Comcast or whatever local ISP provider is where you live, they will provide all training, off incentive to be educated, if you are lucky enough be provided with a vehicle you can store at home plus gas card and vehicle insurance. If you live in the footprint, you will get free or discounted services, they will provide all tools PPE, and training. As long as your brain functions with eye hand motor skills, even if smart enough pull side hustles.

Just a FYI Spectrum starting pay for home installers is about 20 hr. factor in free vehicle and gas with home garaging. Free provider service or greatly discounted, you would have a path to growth.

Stay away from satellite companies though. No growth opportunity really. Waste of time.

You need several attributes to accomplish this, BACKGROUND check pass. Drivers license current and no bad stuff past 3 years, ie DUI, reckless convictions, and kind of theft convictions is a disqualifier. no DUI past 3-5 years. Normal being a good person stuff.
Cant be afraid of heights, or confined spaces.
Willing to travel, is helpful, willing to work overtime is also.

Boom there you go, if you get a good company that starts at a good base you are golden, if one is substandard ask if you can double you wages within the first 3 to 5 years. AT MINIMUM.

Construction offers more opportunity to learn different facets of practical knowledge. Being able to, and having the confidence to take on repairs, small projects etc, pays nicely throughout life.

Yeah, definitely a better choice for some (not me, I get my job satisfaction from using my brain to solve problems), but many of those jobs end up being hard on the body.

Today in construction class we were hammering nails in wood which was pretty fun.

But the students had to either were googles or glasses and there was this jerk in my class that didn't have either and I had glasses and while I was nailing the wood he scowled at me and said THE TEACHER SAID NOT TO HAMMER ANYMORE!

I asked the teacher and he said only people "WITHOUT" goggles or glasses can't hammer anymore.

And the dude said IF I CANT HAMMER IN NAILS THAN YOU CANT HAMMER IN NAILS EITHER!

So the teacher asked me to stop hammering in order to not make anyone jealous.
