Most awesome boss fights

Ive just finished going through resident evil 3, the nemesis fight at the end is just awesome... the amazing music combined with the thing itsself, awesome combination. It didnt last long since i knew exactly what to do but i remember the first time fighting that thing i was running around trying to kill it in vain, you have to push the batterys into place!

Nemesis was an awesome boss overall. He could even kill you early on in 1 hit, crazy stuff.

Anyone else remember any other cool bosses? I dont remember anything recently, hogger maybe lol, MGS had a lot of great bosses, same with the other resident evil games, although nemmy is still my fav by far.

P.S. On a slightly related note, anyone ever remember blowing off nemmys head? I did in the factory, he was walking about with no head and making a weird breathing noise ive never seen this happen before though...

I'm having a hard time thinking of memorable boss fights in PC games. As far as console, MGS definitely has some memorable boss fights.

GLaDOS (Portal)
The End (MGS3)
The Boss (MGS3) - Memorable visually because of the field of flowers
Legion (multiple Castlevania games)
Death (multiple Castlevania games)
Mother (House of the Dead: Overkill) - It's almost amazing this game didn't get an AO rating instead of M...

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic springs to mind. There were a good number of boss fights that were quite unique in that. A giant worm chases you across cliff faces...there are no weapons to defeat it you just have to avoid it. A pretty cool semiscripted sequence at the beginning involving castle defense. My favorite was the cyclops troll you end up fighting at the bottom of a ravine. I hid in a bunch of rocks, and although I'm sure this was scripted it blew me away. The troll peaks into the crack, then reaches in to grab me and finds I'm just out of reach. He then grabs the massive rock and pulls it aside. I was not expecting that!

I loved the Psycho Mantis fight in the first Metal Gear Solid.

Yup, the fight against Psycho Mantis was great...a real memorable one. I played Cold Fear a few months back and the last boss fight against the scientist (Dr. Kamsky) was awesome!

Probably to old for people to remember but on the hard difficulty.

Dark forces, Dark Troopers and the end boss always freaked me out and were hard to kill.

Cyberdemon from Doom! CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP...

The original Half-Life - that giant plant type thingy that hunted by sound. It just kept banging and banging away at the floors and the walls making an awful racket, and you had to sneak by it several times to finally turn on the flames to kill it. I still remember the tension of that scene, and my heart pounding as I tried to avoid being squished.

Heh I was going to say Barons of Hell: "hmm, I wonder what is behind this door...RAAAAAAWR...AHHHHH!" or the last guy from the first episode of Wolf-3d: "Hooray I've escaped the castle! GUTEN TAAAAG!! AHHH!!!!" Good times.

Painkiller bosses are indeed gigantic and quite intimidating. Also bosses in MDK 2 were superb and difficult. I also liked most of the bosses in the Mega Man series. I could also add Shao Kahn and Kintaro in Mortal Kombat II, and Eyedol in Killer Instinct.

Duke Nukem 3d; the final boss, where you're duking it out in a football stadium
Dark Forces: Jedi Knight. Something always felt epic about the fight with Saris (you can even use the "force pull" on the lightsaber on the ground to equip it) and the dark jedi that was cut in half and floats around the level
Fallout 2: Frank Horrigan. Very VERY big, but you can stack the odds by hacking the turrents and recruiting some enclave guys on your side
Planescape: Torment: Fighting the Transcendent One (of course, the other options to end the conflict are even better)
Baldur's Gate II: The 2 fights with Irenicus at the end, and anytime you fight a dragon.
Icewind Dale: The Necromancer under Dragon's Eye; dunno why, I just liked it. And any of the boss fights you have to get the keys to fight another boss (can't remember the location, but it's underground after the ice fortress)
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: The big minotaur boss who's so big he doesn't even fit on the whole screen.

Mine have already been said: pretty much any Painkiller boss, and the final Duke Nukem 3D boss.

I'm with this ^. I feel like console game boss fights generally >> PC game boss fights. (I think Painkiller bosses mimic console bosses moreso than PC bosses)

A game called Silver...

Had some really awesome Boss fights like killing Fuge, a few dragons, some old and evil dude and finally taking on Apocalypse himself!!

i liked the Werewolf in Vampire {VtMR}
- hard to kill and quite exciting no matter what you did

the old Castlevania on NES springs to mind - Dracula had several progressively harder forms to defeat and you could not miss a step or you started over 😛

i like the BIG bosses in PainKiller
[some of Serious Sam - the basket ball ending jumping thru hoops to get it done]

Some of the HL expansions had good Boss fights

and i loved 'the Guardian' in Doom3
:Q
[but hated the CyberPussyDemon at the end; too easy with the soul cube]
