It was already posted, by Bucksnort as you can see. Not sure why I felt like being a twit and bringing that up, I guess becuase it is a different URL than the other one, more choices is good.

I HATED the combat in Daggerfall, it was SO LAME. so I'm not even gonna bother with Morrowind.

I wouldn't say MW's combat system is great but it's not bad either. You have 3 attacks per weapon, each weapon has an attack mode that works best for it. You can be knocked down and knocked out (and you can do the same to enemies). You can shield block though that happens automatically. You can run out of "fatigue" (stamina).

Magic combat is pretty remedial, though. And incoming projectiles/spells can block your spells. For example an incoming el cheap iron arrow can stop my fireball dead. Lame.

Monster AI is a bit below average. Sometimes you see enemies back off (usually archers and mages) but otherwise it's your basic Doom AI. The taunting is well implemented though and adds to the battle atmosphere.

All I wanted and expected from MW's combat was an improvement over Ultima 9s. And so it succeeded. You results may differ.

I really like this game, I am at 19th level and trying to decide what to do. I adopted a thieves hideout as my own (after I killed them all). I used the Mark spell to Mark my location and there is a spell to recall you to it. Then I use the spell that takes you to the nearest temple (Balmora) to bring me back. I keep all my high priced weapons out there that I don't use. There is an abundance of places to explore and none of them are too big to be hard to move around in without getting lost.
