If he doesn't already, Clayton Hickey might regret voting in an arguably racist shirt on election day.

A photo of Hickey wearing the shirt to a polling place in Olive Branch went viral this week. The photo shows the Confederate flag with a noose on top of it — two symbols that many call racist.

On Thursday, Regional One Health in Memphis confirmed the man in the photo was an employee at the hospital and that he had been fired after a thorough investigation.
...
"He's nice as far as I have seen. He came out and helped me do some stuff. I don't think he's wanting to start trouble. He gets caught in a lot of trouble."

The neighbor is referring to an incident years ago when Hickey resigned from the Memphis Police Department. He was caught in a car with a 17-year-old girl and alcohol.

I think these lines from one of his neighbors points out this guy's problem.....

"He just gets caught in all the wrong situations," the neighbor said.

He doesn't want trouble, it's just he's always in the wrong place, wrong time, with the wrong girl/drink/shirt/etc., etc., etc. Essentially he's completely responsible for getting himself into these situations via sheer stupidity and yet doesn't see it. Sort like others that post here....oblivious to anything outside their own bubble.

That’s a proud “conservative” white man. And he’s far more honest for what passes around here as “conservative.”

I don't see the problem here. The shirt is just an expression of his economic anxiety. The real racists are the commie left for calling him a racist.

This is very true. There’s nothing on his shirt that says anything racist as that noose could be used to hang anyone, regardless of skin color.

The real problem here is the racist left insisting everything has to be about race. I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist but sometimes a t shirt is just a t shirt. Hysteria like this is why Trump won.

Yup, left wing snowflakes get offended by literally anything these days.

I was looking at houses there on Zillow the other day. Shit like that is just one of many reasons why, in spite of the incredibly low real estate prices, I could never live there.
($300,000 there will buy a small mansion....here, just a modest 2-3 bedroom house that probably needs some renovations.)

That's ok. You stay in a liberal paradise and pay 300k for a shack, I'll move to redneck central and live like king Midas for half that. We'll both be happy!

Well also there are no jobs there that pay anything decent.

The one thing red areas tend to have right is housing policy though. Let people build!

Fortunately, I don’t need no job...I is retired...:p

Y’all go ahead on...remember, they are mandated by state laws to remove as much of your brain as it takes to reduce your IQ to 70 once you cross the Mason-Dixon line...

I have 3 wonderful grandkids who have the "misfortune" of being half-black. If they have to endure being called n*ggers in the great liberal paradise of California, I can't help but believe life in the south would be somewhat less grand for them...and there's no fucking way my wife would ever move that far away from her babies...so we'd have to take them with us.

And, I'll move to SE Asia and live like a GOD for much much less than you could ever imagine. A maid for $10 USD who cooks and cleans my condo over looking the Thai beach that I only paid $70k. The delicious street food that I pay only 5Thai Baht. The hot beautiful weather in SE Asia. The beautiful people. :)

A shack!? That would be the dream. $300k might get you a bathroom here.

That's your fault for living where other people want to live and wages are north of $8.75 an hour.

Not to get into another housing discussion but high coastal housing prices are in large part the fault of coastal area housing policy. We could have lower housing prices if we wanted to.

Boomer is slumming it up in the pacific northwest. I live in the heart of the California socialist republic, and build those 300k bathrooms. We know know how to do it right in CA. Get those housing prices way up, move in a bunch of rich white people and force the undesirables to sell through high prices and taxes.

Sadly, California tax policy does not force anyone to sell. After all the whole point of prop 13 is to help people accrue enormous housing wealth exempt from taxation. California mostly chases the undesirable renters out because they don't get special exemptions and tax subsidies and their prices are driven up by the incumbent property owners that love prop 13.

It's sad that bill didn't pass. The sooner California takes zoning out of the hands of local boards the sooner they can adopt a sane housing policy. It's happening, but not fast enough.
