Morgan Freeman WTF?

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident Sunday night in north Mississippi.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.

Emergency crews extracted Freeman and his passenger from their vehicle using the jaws of life. According to Williams, they were both airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where Freeman was listed in serious condition Monday morning.

The condition of Freeman's passenger has not been released.

Freeman, who won an Academy Award for his performance in 2004's Million Dollar Baby, is a co-owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Memphis. He currently stars in the Batman sequel The Dark Night.

i agree here, there is no need to be shocked that he drives a maxima, just because he has money does not mean he is required to spend millions on a car

I agree. Also, like someone else said, it's probably helps him blend in so people aren't harassing him and ambushing him when he gets out of his car.

Incidentally, PBS (may have been Georgia only) was replaying some of the best of The Electric Company yesterday. I was flipping through and one of the skits featured Morgan Freeman. It was kind of odd to see him in his late 30s/early 40s with dark hair and everything. I've gotten so used to seeing him as the wizened gray actor.

Hard to believe he's 71.

He didn't get famous/uber rich until later in life -- that's probably a good reason too why he's so well grounded.

Man I hope he's OK.

He's one of the few actors that seem to be a decent person off screen.

I find it speaks even more of his character that he was driving a reasonable car like that than some flashy car.
