After an outstanding job of detective work, Scot Ross of One Wisconsin Now and theGrio revealed Monday that funding to buy voter-intimidating ads on 85 billboards in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, came from the Einhorn Family Foundation, run by patriarch Steve Einhorn. It is not known whether the foundation also paid for 60 of similarly toxic billboards in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio. Einhorn and his wife, Nancy, contributed $25,000 to defeat the recall campaign against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, among other Republican causes.
The billboards depicted a judge's gavel and the text "Voter Fraud is a felony—up to 3 1/2 years and a $10,000 fine.” Citizen advocates objected to the billboard ads because they were placed almost exclusively in minority neighborhoods with obvious voter-suppressing intent. Activists, including One Wisconsin Now, tried to get billboard-owner Clear Channel Outdoor Advertising to say who had purchased the ads. But the company said funding had come from an anonymous donor, something it claimed was against company policy for political ads.

What douche bags. They try to hide who they are like cowards, but what were the odds it was a right wing group though, 50-50? Clearchannel, who owns the billboards took them down, good for them.

Voter targeting now equals voter suppression.

So how does this suppress voters again?

It tries to put a level of fear into voters. That is the intent. It's not like the billboards are trying to solve a real problem. It is a way for rich white people who support the GOP to use their cash to say "hey poor and minority people - we are watching you, you had better not show up at the polls".

You mean the same way those DUI billboards put fear into honest drivers who aren't drinking?

So scare tactics are fine as long as your side is using them. I see. Judging by your countless posts over the fear ads released by Obama.

It tries to put a level of fear into illegal voters. Is this really that difficult to understand?

But the billboard is targeted against those that do not have a right to vote -- what's the problem?

gee...maybe you should ask all the repub state legislatures that took legal voters off the registration in an effort to purge the "illegal" voters.
I think you're in the wrong thread, this one is about a PSA billboard:p

The idea that billboards can suppress voters is absurd.
It might make those "undocumented workers" think twice;)

Actually thinking about it why would people who have already proved they are willing to break the law care about one more little one? Hell, the fine/jail time isn't even all that bad considering...
