Yes, I know, it's a brag thread and no one likes that, but it sure means a lot to me.

As of today I finally have zero credit card debt! It feels sooo good. At one time I had nearly $25,000 racked up on 5 different cards and I'm not a rich guy, just your average middle class wage earner. Finally made my last payment with today's paycheck.

Looking back on it it was such a mountain to dig out from under I never thought this day would come but as I got one paid off I just rolled that payment on to the next one. It's been a hard journey to say the least and all I can say is never again...

I closed them all except for 2 major cards with about a $12000 combined limit.. They are there in a pinch but I don't even carry the cards anymore, just cut up the cards when I get them that way I'm not tempted and I can just have one overnighted if the shit ever hits the fan.

Now it's time to start building the savings account up...

Congrats. Working on that myself right now. If it were not for a divorce, a bout with cancer, radiation and chemo. I'd probably be there right now but I'm getting closer.
 
Good job. I wouldn't consider this a brag thread... getting $25k in CC debt isn't the smartest thing to do 😉
 
Agreed, it's a real accomplishment. Congrats to you for being determined, and reaching your goal.

Congrats !!! A grand achievement in today's society, where everybody buys on credit, and cash is an afterthought.

And I thought my 7k debt 10+ years ago was a lot !!

The funny thing about "brag" threads is that they are all relative.

If you said you make $900K per year in a forum full of people making $1 million a year, nobody cares.

If you said you make $50K per year in a forum full of people making $40K per year, then everyone jumps on you for "bragging."
 
I put $18,000 on my credit card this year (remodeling my house). Payment is only $100 a month though since it's a platinum card. I could pay it off right now but I'm keeping as much money liquid to buy investment properties. Once I have the rentals up and going I'll pay it off again though. That's the only debt I have, doesn't bother me with such a low interest rate, if it was like 29% like some people instead of 7% I'd be crapping bricks about it though

7% is still a pretty huge rip, considering where the rates are right now...
