More feigned indignation please about this. Must have missed all the posts complaining about this before the year 2009.

True - except that the Dems were going to change that overall attitude.

They did not want to be like the Republicans.

They were providing hope and change.

Cleanup politics - get rid of the smoke filled back rooms where deals were made.
Openess in government - prevent any stink of conflict/corruption from being in place.

Such was their mantra - seems like the Dems wee sold a bill of goods - except they are to stubborn/pig headed to realize it.

Really, a 60 demo 40 rep vote on health care. The Republicans are the party of death. Death to America, death to fixing problems, death to everything. Fuck them. Whatever it takes to pass legislation that will make America better, fine by me. I don't give a fuck how they get it done.

I long for the day when the hind ass of America, the Republican primitive, backward south dies and is replaced by a better educated generation. Republicans are nothing but a bunch of retrograde programmed idiots. They contribute nothing but no no no no no.

The Republicans learned their political behavior from the Democrats. Years ago, they had a 40 year run of Congress. Told you I was old.

I am about as far right as one can get but I also believe in fair across the board. Black, white, red and green, gays and straight. Holy crap. Am I a closet liberal? Nah, I have too many guns so I must be a progressive conservative.

lol. "Punish him for me. Make me feel loved." Maybe in the RINO voting districts.

Please, the Republicans are the masters of vicious. The created the politics of destruction and I hope it kills them.

And you can't be old because you're a junion member.

Why is it that those who say they weren't born yesterday so often act as if they were born today? A saying

PS: I do love you, because of course, you Republicans, in your twisted and blind way, do mean well.

Don't really know but I would guess that the prevalence of the 'me, too' Senators would lead toward such a commitment being abandoned in 'conference'.

That would put Senator Ben Nelson in a very awkward position when the final vote is taken on the actual bill that comes out of conference.

If you read the article the "me too" attitude is making Nelson want the whole thing (his deal) dropped.

I see I need to remind you of the cardinal rule of AT P&N:

If Democrats do it, it is "necessary" or "reality."

If Republicans do it, it is "corruption," "obstruction," or any other "-tion" with negative connotations that you can type.

Are you aware the thread was started by one of this forums biggest resident righties? If not, now you know. Feel free to continue your faux outrage either way.

I'm sorry, how does the political affiliation of the OP affect the relevance of the discussion at hand -- which is, specifically, the deal Nelson and a few others got for their states and in general, the pork politicians of both parties add to legislation? Oh that's right, I forgot the Democrat forum code you tools live by -- ignore the message and shoot the messenger.

Kill the senate bill, bring back public option and go through reconciliation.
Better try a robust bill that a bastardized compromise.

Kill this bill and pass real healthcare reform please. America will not benefit from half-measures and watered down garbage like this bill.

Guilty, as charged, Your Honor ...

I know it may pain some of you folks but this may work out to be a well-played duh-version; ugly, but practical.

I think that would be a mistake. I am hoping that when they merge the Senate bill with the much stronger house bill they will get an end product that resemble the start of reform.

Well since President Obama campaigned on this we believed him can you fault us for that? We were living in a nightmare supplied by Bush and co. for the last 8 years and he was feeding us want we wanted to hear. You consider people who hoped the status quo would go pig headed and stubborn?

It's to early to say that President Obama has boned his constituents and he has time to produce some tangible results for his constituents before the next election.
The Dems bashed everyone for doing exactly what they are doing now.

Both the constituents (sample of posters here) and the politicians are doing and justifying this attitude.

Regarding Obama - ye sit is to early to tell the results - stating that it is for is constituents vs the country re-enforces the attitude that the Dems still want the class warfare

However, Obama's actions are just of another politician that has said anything to get into office and now does not feel that he is obligated to anyone but what is needed to stay there.
Claiming naivety is no excuse - he had been in Washington and knew what was going on and how things worked.

What is the defiinition of reform?
  • Lower Health Care Costs?
  • Expanded Coverage?
  • Affordable Coverage?
  • Cost Containment?
  • Unlimited access?
  • Cost spreading?
  • Cost shifting?

All the above have been trumpeted as reform. What actually is going to be done?

I'm a junior member because I used to work for a living. Now, I work for myself and can screw off if I want. As far as age, I used paper tape in my assembly language computer class.

I'm not a Republican. They are no better than the Democrats. SSDD. Happily, I am a conservative.

Genx87...what did Franken and Klobuchar get for us?

I read a nice heart warming story in the Star and Sickle this morning about the fear this legislation will gut our nationally admired state healthcare system. This is the benefit of having tweedle dee(Franken) and tweedle dumb(Klobuchar) as our two state senators.

The House Bill addresses many of these concerns( it's called the Public option) but the Senate bill does not and I am hoping after the merge they will incorporate the more progressive changes.
