I'll bet these extreme policies are a consequence of the fear of lawsuits. In today's climate, ANY school that experiences a knife attack knows that the victim's family will sue, and the only possible defense will be a zero-tolerance policy that's rigorously enforced to the point of stupidity.
Given the current environment of fear, administrators know their jobs and careers are on the line if preventable violence occurs on school grounds. Can you blame them for implementing these policies?
Not saying it's right, but if YOU were a principle or a member of the school board, and your livelihood were at stake, what would YOU do?
Always what is right regardless of consequence as any honest person would.
I don't believe YOU really believe "regardless of consequences." Consequences are always relevant.
Would you pursue a gun-carrying shoplifter over a $10 theft?
If you objectively knew that you were absolutely the best person for a highly desirable job, but you also knew that you would not get the job unless you told a single lie (that could never be discovered) about your past experience, would you tell the truth?
If under extenuating circumstances years earlier you cheated on your wife, but you have been completely faithful ever since (and knew you will always be), would you tell the truth to your wife if you believed it could destroy your marriage?
You used the word "right" as if that word has meaning "regardless" of the consequences. I believe that "right" is DEFINED by the consequences.
