Good, now they can teach useful stuff like math and science.
aren't all the fat people in america going to bankrupt healthcare in the next 60 years? seems silly to get rid of health and pe if that's the case
All subjects including art and fitness are important to developing a well rounded human. They're all equally important.

Ya, I'm sure being good at dodgeball will get these kids jobs. Maybe if you're a professional dodgeball player..
I agree 100% about art, but teaching PE in high school is ridiculous.

If you're going to school for a job, you're doing it wrong. Math and science make you a better corporate drone, art and fitness make you a better person.
America is full of fatties. They need fitness education now more than ever. PE should be coupled with a dietary education program to teach these people how to live. They obviously aren't learning at home.
Then you need to ask if its the government's job to make people better people or is it the parents' job.
Why yes, my sarcasm meter is working, but thanks for asking.I don't get how US health care can have any kind of money issue, don't people have to pay to get treated?
My sister is going to high school next year and she was telling me about a few of the changes being made next year.
1) PE is not required if your parents sign a waiver
2) Health, which used to be required, is no longer offered
At my high school, you had to take PE for 2 years. I took it for 4 years and, some semesters, I signed up for two PE classes at a time (We had college type scheduling). LOL - I was a gym rat (played three varsity sports) and a nerd (help set up the first computer lab at my school).
We also were required to take a shop class (wood, metal, electrical...) every semester.
MotionMan
let me guess - you did not go to a public school?
