X1900 huh ?
I was expecting X1850 as the product name. Oh well, there goes, X1900, so shall it be.

Did a google search on X1900, a couple sites came up, and the only information they had was that we should expect $1000 video cards in 06. Is there really a market for $1000 cards? And do they really look that much better than a $300 card?

Umm....no? You can better get around $800 USD for a CPU if it is something like a 4800+ X2 of an Athlon FX (the P4EEs are a lot more....but people seem to buy a small amount of those as well) But I don't forsee anyone paying 1000 for GPU....if what you found is right.
700 for the 512 GTX is insane, and 1000 is even worse...I don't know why they would bother to release it...it'd be a major loss....for either NV or ATI

When you look at that $750 people are already paying, I guess it's not that big of a jump to $1000.
