Amen to that! I can't believe what people will post in Anantech forums. It has to be the some of the rudest, and poorest discussion of any of the review sites!

Moderator, if you are listening would you lay down the law please?

I suppose I will add my two cents. In this thread, we've got ATI fans ranting about Nvidia, and we've got nvidia fans ranting about ATI.

Personally, I have own a Voodoo3, a Geforce 256 DDR, a GF3 Ti200, and a GF4 Ti4200. Right now, my desktop is running with a 9600 Pro, and my notebook is running with an M9. Every one of those cards/chips has served me well in the past.

At this point in the market, I see ATI making all the right moves and I see Nvidia stumbling over themselves. Competition is a beautiful thing, but Nvidia has to plan on the same soccor field. Granted, its the developers choice what to do with their game, it may be an asinine decision to exclude ATI cards, but thats their decision to make.

And honestly, Bridge It sounds like a lame game to me.

nVidia was a respectable company for a while. I have lost all confidence in them and I dont think I will ever buy from them again. But that's what I said about ATI also and now I have a Radeon 9000.

dumb dumb move, for all us bridge builder fans we would love to play this game but consider that nearly all the enthusiasts(sp?) are going or have gone to ATI now simply because they have a better product on the market

instead of this game possibly getting a very unique fanbase it will just go down in history as a nother game no one has ever heard of or even tried

This is COMPLETE BS!!!! You don't see Valve releasing Half-Life 2 as an "ATI cards only" game, do you? Is nVidia SO insecure about their hardware that they have to resort to making gaming publishers disable their games from running on competitors hardware? This is beyond stupid. If nVidia spent as much time on hardware design as they do damage control they wouldn't have anything to worry about in the first place!

Sorry nVidia, but I'm not spending money to purchase an inferior product no matter WHAT you do. If you EVER want to see my money, then make a top performing card at an affordable price. It's that simple. Just because you're pouting that you're not top dog anymore shouldn't mean you take your toys out of the sandbox so the other kids can't play with them. Now go stand in a corner until you're ready to play nice again.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord:/
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;/
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:/
His truth is marching on.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!/
Glory, glory, hallelujah!/
Glory, glory, hallelujah;/
His truth is marching on.

Seriously, so what if nVidia pays developers to code nVidia specific games? I can't run PS2 games on my Xbox, I've got a version of Tomb Raider that only runs on 3dfx, and I do remember the company specific Mech Warriors. If you want to play the game, you'll buy their card. If not, tough luck, I guess you should have paid the developers to code for your card, or convinced ATI to.

Or even Nvidia if you have say, a GF4MX, GF3ti500/200, GF3, GF2 Ultra/GTS, GF2MX, Quadro, Geforce256, TNT for that matter.

So it's good that, had I wanted this game, I would have to switch out my 9800 Pro for some EDIT, for the uninformed, CHEAP NVIDIA CARD BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD A TOP OF THE LINE NVIDIA CARD TO SWAP WITH MY 9800 PRO AND NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO DO SUCH A THING ANYWAY? I'm not supporting ATI or bashing NVidia, but, come on guys, it's DAMNED easy to see where this guy is coming from without jumping all over him. Yea, you can't play an N64 game on a computer, big whoop, that means NOTHING. I thought that, generally, games were meant to work on any video card fast enough...Was I wrong? How is it that you guys can't see how utterly stupid this situation is? It looks to me like most of you just came up in here and began looking for a fight after the first strike was made. Jesus Christ.

This is really the developer's "fault," not nVidia's. I have to put fault in quotes because who knows if the game would have even been released had nV not helped/paid? You should be asking ATi to help the developer release an "ATi patch" for the game and nudging the dev to do so, not blaming nVidia for everything.

That's what Canada's for. ;)

Isn't this game a graphically updated version of the free bridge simulation software that was popular a while back? And if Nvidia paid the developer to turn this into a 3D simulation that will only run on their hardware that is between the developer and Nvidia. They owe "the community" nothing. If Nvidia hadn't paid the developer to create it, this piece of software may well never have existed, so those without Nvidia cards wouldn't really be missing out on anything. Consider this Nvidia's gift to those that buy their product.

Really though, I'm sure there will be hacks to get it to run on other hardware.

I would have to switch out my 9800 Pro for some NVidia POS? I'm not supporting ATI or bashing NVidia,

Oh no. This in no way bashes nVidia! The people who own their cards like it when you call them "pieces of $hit".

I wish nVidia would give Gabe a box of Twinkies to code HL2 for nVidia only, it would serve guys like you right.

Maybe he likes Ding Dongs better... that could have been nVidia's mistake... they bought him Twinkies, and ATI bought him Ding Dongs.

I meant that as in I would have to go out and buy some cheap NVidia product as I am NOT buying an FX card. I had a feeling somebody would take that the wrong way, who would have thought it would be you

Thanks for sticking that out there NYHoustonman. As you and other people have pointed out, whenever somebody posts the words "nVidia" or "ATI" he's instantly labelled as a "fanboy" and gets pummeled by the ignorant masses lurking around these forums. My post was meant as a warning that ANY brand of card owner should be concerned about. If nVidia's ploy of having developers code games to work only on their hardware we'll all end up having to read the back of game boxes to see if our specific brand/model of card is supported irregardless if it is actually MORE powerful than the ones listed.

And why should video card makers get all the glory? Maybe we'll eventually see games that will only install onto Western Digital hard drives and not Seagate, Maxtor or IBM. Or will only load from Pioneer CD-Roms and not Plextor or Lite-On. The possibilities are endless. And then we'll all be oh-so-much better off.

So all you mindless flamers can just keep on ranting, insulting people and spouting off. Doesn't do a thing except show everybody your room temperature IQ. But I for one would like to see this hardware "exclusive" game trend crushed ASAP.

. Are there any other developers/presidents of their developement firms who are as in-touch with their market as him? Obviously he's no saint, but what has he done to deserve this?

So would I. And I also wonder where along the line the video card market turned less into a hardware market and more into a cult/religion.
