Easy answer - his personality type can't admit they were wrong.

Yesterday he spent hours arguing against basic math and probability, and refused to back down despite literally dozens of posts explaining where he was wrong, and several links to experts.

If he can do it about that, he can do it about anything.

You are daft. Romney is pointing out that a US car manufacturer, one that received bailout money from the government, one that was purchased by an Italian manufacturer, is increasing production in China.

Some people care that those production jobs are not here, given the sizable US investment. Some people would rather see Jeep make the cars here and ship them to China. It makes some people ask why we are giving federal dollars to a company so that they can go spend them in China. The ad was trying to reach people who might connect with this message.

But, obviously, the ad was a blatant lie.

Ok. So Romney would have not bailed them out? Romney feels like the government should exert more control/mandates/regulations over private companies even ones that received Federal money? Or Romney believes outsourcing is bad for the economy and that all companies should have their bases of production in the US? Which one is it? Please tie it into Romney's world view of US business and outsourcing, if you can figure out what that is.

At some point you're going to have to join the rest of us in this world. The ad was a cynical attempt to garner votes from the uninformed.

Mitt Romney ad on the bottom of this thread.

Perhaps mittens needs to tinker with his website crawler to find potential sites. This place is like a 98% liberal circle jerk.

What the? Are you serious?

Fact check isn't called in for every "lie" in every speech. Why? Because, generally, the speaker is given the benefit of the doubt that they might have misspoke. Biden "misspeaks" all the time but we don't have fact check there pulling it apart every time. Same goes for many public speeches by politicians, but in this case, we get to fact check it even though the Romney campaign released an ad that was fact based that clearly states their position. This would indicate the candidate misspoke off the cuff at the time or that they decided to walk back the remarks afterwards. Something that happens all the damn time on both sides.

But of course, this is a blatant lie.

Romney said he was in favor of government-backed loan gaurantees for the GM bankruptcy. Obama criticized Romney for saying this, even though that is exactly what Obama did. Complaining about Romney's stance on the GM bankruptcy is intellectually dishonest on a ridiculous level - it is outright doublethink.

Managed bankrupcy may have worked if there was capital. Guess how many firms were willing to provide this to the auto industry?

ZERO!

Also remember Romney said if Obama went through with his plan, "you can kiss the auto industry goodbye"

Ford got $23.6 Billion in bank loans. Obama never handled a Bankruptcy in his life yet he thinks he would be better at it than a Court that does it all time would be?

Excuse me but Ford did not participate in the bankrupcy. Ford was solvent but they favored Obamas plan because they knew GM/Crysler going into bankruptcy would have a devistating effect on the auto parts supply chain.

Go read up on what actually happened during the bail out.

Not excused. You tried to make it out like nobody was willing to loan money to the auto industry. That is not the case.

That is two whole years before GM and Chrysler asked for a bailout.

Yeah, no kidding. Why do you think I said that?

You responded to a comment pointing out that nobody wanted to loan money to auto companies after the crisis with an irrelevant point about bank loans two years before it.

Honestly, I've met kindergarteners who could reason better.

We bailed out the banks. Private capital had dried up. Nobody was lending. Where was the money going to come from?

My gosh. How easy it is to rewrite history huh? Seeing you live in a made up world, I bet you're voting for Romney.

Oh bullshit. They didn't even approach the banks. Nice try making excuses for them.

Ford borrowed from the banks. Thier stock is actually higher right now then when they borrowed the money.

Chevy borrowed from the government closed 1100 dealerships and thier stock is in the toilet.

Hey, I didn't realize we had so many corporatists in the Obama camp.

Oh I guess it did save jobs though right? Why not just keep giving them paychecks but let the companies fold? Let a better car manufacturer make the cars. Oh but they are 'Murican car companies, we have to support 'Murica.

Corporatist sheep, the lot of you.

Ford borrowed from the banks.

You continue to pretend that a loan made in 2006, at a time when banks were freely giving money to anyone who wanted it, has anything to do with trying to get a loan at the very peak of the financial crisis, a time when banks wouldn't give money to anyone.

You are either incredibly stupid, or incredibly dishonest.

Why don't you use your logic the next time you go to buy something and they are sold out. Just tell them "well it was in stock two years ago, therefore you can sell me one now."

Why can't it be both? Posting history points to it being both.
