Unlike our police officers the SS tends to be a bit better trained than that.

Obama doesn't have the support to ban guns. Don't mistake lack of ability for lack of desire.

I bet the Secret Service guys are sweating bullets over that one....

Good.

are you kidding me? As soon as that guy makes any threatening moves towards the President, he's gonna have 5 bullets in his heart.

Again, he didn't and no responsible gun owner would do such a thing. Just exercising their right. No responsible gun owner would even raise the weapon unless they absolutely had to in response to harm. And by a HUGE margin those that choose to open carry are responsible gun owners.

As I said in the OP - nothing illegal happening here. If he raised his weapon, then fine - kill him either by SS/LEO or by another carrying, that's a deadly threat.

i don't trust anyone to be a responsible gun owner. Bringing weapons to a demonstration is completely unacceptable, even if it is legal.

Yet you trust soccer moms in 2000 pound weapons yapping on their cell-phones and eating to not kill you out on the road?

You trust Joe-blow to not drive home from the bar with a .25 BAC and wipe out your family?

You trust the police to show up in time to protect you if someone wants to do harm to yourself or your family?

Im sorry you dont trust people to exercise their rights. Luckily, it really doesnt matter.

You telling someone that acting well within their right is unacceptable, is unacceptable.

No it isn't, that's the stupidest thing I've heard all day. There are tons of behaviors that are legal and within someone's rights that are unacceptable in certain situations. Just as you don't get up and scream curses in the middle of church (despite it being your right to do so), you don't carry rifles to an event with the president in a country where nearly 10% of the men who have held the office have been shot to death, and 13 out of 43 have had credible attempts on their life (mostly with guns).

Nobody is trying to argue that the people should have been arrested for doing it, just that they were acting stupidly by doing so.

Its amazing that 99.9% of all gun crime is committed with illegal guns that subvert gun control laws to being with.

Makes you wonder if it is the gun or the individual that is dangerous.

I haven't seen one instance of a threat...

Please provide a link to someone at an Obama rally with a gun threatening the president.

What kind of testing is required to carry a rifle? Have you ever met humans you think are unqualified to do nearly anything and you can't stand them? I wonder how easy it is for them to get a permit to carry a rifle

You realize the president is a black man and that threats on his life have gone up 400 or 4000% over what bush dealt with?

If you do something for me first... show me one instance where Bush had citizens at his speeches carrying guns *and not as a show of support .. I don't think he would even allow it since the constitution is just a piece of paper to him and his crew

In this case, the dumbass individual is dangerous and happens to be using a gun to do his menacing. And, I'm not against guns, just dumbasses acting out with teenage angst. Some would call them punks no matter how you wrap it or spin it.

Go back into your hole.
And if you go to tpm where this picture originated, the gun owners commenting are dismayed with this stupidity.

I'm a big supporter of gun rights, but these idiots are pushing the boundaries, and make it more difficult for the rest of us.

So, if that ain't it, what other features could possibly qualify a rifle as an "assault rifle"?
EDIT: Here's a hint, there is no right answer because the term itself has no real meaning outside of politics.

By former U.S. law, the legal term assault weapon included certain specific semi-automatic firearm models by name (e.g., Colt AR-15, TEC-9, all non-automatic AK-47s, and Uzis) and other semi-automatic firearms because they possess a minimum set of features from the following list of features:

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades)

Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more

Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
Detachable magazine

The earlier term assault rifle refers to rifles that are capable of fully automatic fire. In contrast, the term "assault weapon" refers to weapons capable of semi-automatic fire that had those certain features, as listed above. The ban did not cover "assault rifles", but merely the new category of "assault weapons" which did not include automatic firearms of any type.

Yeah, I don't think I'd bring my guns with me to that kind of setting. As much as I may have the right to carry, some place just aren't appropriate. Use a little common sense.

 Same here. I have a right to carry and do when I go places where I feel it's needed/appropriate. These venues are not that place.

Yep and all it'll take is for one whack job to try something and it'll fuck it up for those who are law abiding gun owners.
