Got my 2023/2024 booster (Spikevax, Moderna). Got terrible sleep the first night afterwards, and felt really sleepy ~20 to 26 hours after taking it. But fine otherwise. Not everyone was lucky to get the booster though as I heard several people had their reservations cancelled when pharmacies ran out. Hopefully that means that a few more people are getting the vaccine this time around. Most likely though it is just the inrush of people who haven't been able to get a vaccine in about a year.
Granted I live in Texas, the land of vax hypocrites, but even those I know who got vaxxed first time around and boosters aren't getting them now. I know a handful of people who all got Covid in the last week or two and it presented as no more than a runny nose for them. Seems like the pharma companies are starting to likely turn down manufacturing volume.

Glad there wasn't much for them. Covid is booming here in the Midwest. In the last 3 weeks, I know several with just a runny nose, two who were wiped out for a couple of weeks but recovered, and one who died of Covid after being intubated and on a ventilator (sister-in-law's father-in-law who was an anti-vaxxer).

My concern for myself has nothing to do with the immediate severity. I'll likely recover no problem. It is the long-term lasting effects which are so far serious (30% increase in strokes and heart disease, cumulative with each time you get it) or unknown (who really knows what will happen 10+ years from now). HIV leads to AIDS years down the line. Chicken Pox leads to Shingles decades later. HPV can lead to cancer. What happens to Covid down the line? Until I know, I'll take my once a year being sleepy after a vaccine. But I'm one of the few who looks into decisions like that.

Ordered mine yesterday. One of councilmembers who I went to a conference with last week and spent some time in a car with last week notified us he tested positive last night. He'd been feeling ill since last Wednesday or Thursday, which was when we spent some time with him, but so far, he's the only one with symptoms and is sick. Myself and my coworkers so far feel fine.

Close friend of mine who I hung out with last night's dad tested positive this morning.... I hung out with her all day/night yesterday in a closed space.

Not good. 🙁

Were I you I would at least antigen test. I did just that when the GM of my volunteer organization said that one or more of our staff tested positive and were in the facility when I was and I figured at least a fair chance I was sharing space with them at some point. From the quote above I would surmise you were "exposed." You might be asymptomatic but capable of spreading the germ.

I hope you stay feeling fine. I had so hoped that we'd get one silver lining from Covid: that people who are knowingly sick in a pandemic would just stay home and take care of themselves instead of spreading it to the world. Even that one simple idea was far too much to expect. 🙁

Best of luck. It doesn't sound highly likely to have spread to you from that brief description. He would have had to spread it to her unknowingly several days before, who would have had to spread it to you unknowingly. That is, unless they were obviously showing symptoms. Yes, it can spread before symptoms but that is not extremely common and you'd thus need two uncommon things to happen sequentially to have gotten it.

I'm going to test this afternoon. My wife who teaches has some test kits at the class and she's bringing one home for me to use.

Yea if I develop any symptoms I'm def. not going in. I'm testing this afternoon when my wife brings home a test kit.

The silver lining for me is just that I haven't been sick since Nov. 2019. I figure going forward I will be somewhat more careful to not get infected with whatever. I used to wash hands when I got home (when I remembered), but wasn't as aware as I am now about air borne pathogens.

Gentle reminder that COVID hasn't gone away and to get your vaccine.
We had our first COVID death in ages on my ward. Lady tested positive one day then about 4am dropped her oxygen saturations. When they took her off the ward to ITU she was on high flow oxygen with her saturations at 52%!
There's a lot of cases out there right now.

Thanks .... feeling fine so far myself although my friend said she's been getting chills/aches tonight. (hopefully psychosomatic)

I had the last booster @ the end of feb ... hopefully it's still working a little bit! 😳

Update: My friend and I both tested negative last night and I'm still feeling fine. 🙂 (have not seen her today yet)

Will test again tonight or tomorrow.

When my wife got it last March, it took 5 days before I tested positive, and I live with her. Symptoms had just started. I'd wait until at least Saturday to test again if no symptoms.

IIRC, your antibodies are gonna be low but your T-cells remember and can kick in... but that takes a while. Meaning, I think, that you don't have a lot of protection against being infected, but you do have some protection against severity. Anybody who has a more nuanced understanding, chime in...

Never got a shipped notice but did get notice of delivery expected today.

edit: finally arrived about 7:30PM. Extended expiration date for these is still earlier than the ones I got in May.

Mine came in yesterday. I was running low as every time I get the oogies I test. Came in handy a couple of months ago when I was suffering from salmonella poisoning an my GF came over after visiting family in Florida and she wasn't feeling too hot so I had her test a few times and all were positive so I kicked her out then and there. Tested regularly for a week but thankfully I didn't get it as having covid19 on top of severe food poisoning would probably have done me in, on top of high blood pressure and diabetes 2.

I should be getting mine today sometime. I tested twice in the last week and came back negative so I should be good. Just need to get my shot, our pharmacy should have the updated shots next week.

Not that I got mine from the feds, but I have a cold with symptoms eerily similar to my COVID experience. 3/3 on negative tests though. Was worried it would torpedo an upcoming trip.

Weird similar thing happened to me summer of 2022. Came back from a trip to florida, had dinners with many family and friends, was unmasked the whole time including planes. Got home an 2 days later had a scorching sore throat, wheezing, high fever aches and pain, the whole shebang. 6 negative tests. Stayed home for a week or so just in case. I mean, what else could I have caught? If covid was so easy to catch you would think I would catch that before any other random virus.

So far my friend and I are both testing negative @ 10 days.... feeling fine too. 🙂

No sign of the new tests yet although I did request some.

When I had COVID for reals, the rapid test lit up like a Christmas tree. It was no question, lol. I know the tests say to wait 15 minutes, but in that instance mine showed positive in maybe 10 seconds 😂
