Just got back from moose hunting today! Got a nice bull who weighed in around 1000lbs alive (est.), cleaned out he was 775lbs!. 46" spread on the rack, with 17 points.

Very nice animal, with that weight, the total after the butcher for meat is 591 pounds of steaks, hamburger, sausage, etc.!!! We are splitting the meat up between fourg guys who went, so my share is about 150 pounds give or take....I wont need to buy any beef for the next year!!

The cool part is moose meat is 95%+ lean, so even the hamburger is "good" for you!

Yup, I am a bastard...I just had a nice juicy steak about an hour ago...and I guess I should run right out and kill a cow instead of a moose right?

I eat everything I shoot, i dont mount trophy wall units, or that type of stuff....so dont criticize me for hunting an animal, then providing my family with the meat...

I'd love the opportunity to hunt moose and elk one of these years.

Thanks! I love moose meat, it is soooo lean and tasty! I would like to go caribou hunting, i had some of that once and it was great.
I also got my any deer permit this year, so if I get one of those I will most likely give away the meat to another family.. no need to stock up on all the meat and not be able to eat it.

What State / Country did you take it in?

Your 4 wheeler and truck don't look like they are in "moose country".

USA, the State is Maine.
Definitely moose country here, we have the highest population of moose in the lower 48 states..Alaska is higher obviously....

I totally agree...I eat everything i ever catch.
If its moose, deer, partridge, etc. The meat is much better than the store bought processed stuff...if I am fishing, i practice catch and release unless I intend to eat it for dinner in two or three days time...

i prefer to shoot moose with my camera

I have a bunch of photos of wild turkey, deer. moose, etc...none of which were taken during hunting season. ;)

I have always felt that if you hunt, you shoudl eat what you get, dont waste it...

I like mooses. one of my yet unrealized life goals it to see a live moose. so.. I'm tempted to look at your pictures but.. I don't want to see pictures of dead mooses or pieces of mooses...

are there live mooses there? can I see the live mooses without seeing dead mooses or moose pieces?

No..now why the hell would I be doing that?

Haha... Was looking at the well manicured grass and landscaped trees in the background of your pictures. Looked like a golf course.
