Well, let's see then how we are doing:

Yesterday the Funky Bunch thought that victory is theirs already. But just like that, the goalposts went right off.
Thanks for the update!

Now that the race is almost over, it is time to optimize! :) Any advice on running WCG on Zen 1 - on Windows? Reduce number of threads per total on CPU? I am searching posts now.

Hi, Sorry I have to pull out of this event.

Don't roast me, I just thought if I was doing this, you would have posted it!
I was having fun here too...

https://formula-boinc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=288

I posted it because of my Support for the Formula Boinc and being a Member of the SC.

Disclaimer : I do not speak for XS or does any of my choices reflect the choices of XS or positions

For the record; all teams will be eligible to participate and treated with a clean slate.

6k, why do i have a feeling your going to drop a bomb on me
at the end :D
No, no, don't worry :D I intend to finish with what I started with, I have no additional hardware running offline on bunkered tasks. What I meant is, that although I have absolutely no way of ever catching you in the few remaining days (without breaking my own rules), I won't use a certain turn of events now as an excuse to pull out of our race before finish in order to avoid the official loss ;)

After all, I'm in here for the fun, and fun I have

I'm glad to hear that! Since we aren't formally focusing on FB any more any way, no need to focus on petty silliness over there either. :)

I'll have to think more about whether I'll stay out or rejoin, to avoid more pettiness since I am still on the FB sprints committee...

(stats will be posted soon)

Wow, finally I managed to nibble away a teensy little bit of @lane42's lead :D My new goal is to get closer than 100k. After the day 3 bomb, this would almost feel like a tie ;)

my 5950 is at 1:34 for tasks, but that is at full overclock mode. I’m really getting the itch to replace my 2700x with a 5950 just for the power efficiency gains. I’m not at epyc levels, though. Now if I could land one of those new 80 ARM server processors...

Just got a bunch of OpenPandemics GPU work units for my GTX 1060 machine, and the WUs are completing in about 3 minutes or so. Game changer if WCG can keep these WUs flooded into donor rigs!

EDIT: A few units ran for about 5 minutes. WCG is crediting me roughly 900-1000 WCG points for the work done. Not bad <5 minutes work!

EDIT2: Going through my results history and found some GPU work credited between 700 to 850. Not sure what to make of it, but it seems my 2070 Super and 1060 is taking about the same amount of time to process the WU.

My 5950x is doing covid tasks at 1:50, where as my 7551 is taking 5 1/2 hours ! the 7B12 is doing them in 2:20 ! I may have to replace that 7551, its slowwwww
That does seem really slow even for a 1st gen Zen processor. I wouldn't expect it to keep up with the 7B12, but it should be better than half the speed!

Maybe something wrong with the hardware or the OS build?

Its an engineering sample, and linux says its running at 1 ghz. Now I believe it ! The motherboard was $600, but the chip was only $300.

Ah, that would do it. It's supposed to have a base clock of 2.0Ghz and boost up to 2.55 Ghz for all cores, or 3.0Ghz for up to 12 cores. Any chance it's just overheating and throttling itself?

same HSF on the 7551 as all the other EPYC, the NH-D14 TR4 (or whatever its called)

The thing was a sham. First the buyer tried to jack the price up to 450 each. When I complained, he said to pay him "friends and family" style in paypal, and he would make good on the price. I was late in figuring out that left me no recourse in ebay. Also, he said they ran 2 ghz, but by the time I found our he was ripping me off, I was screwed.

So I have 2 of them if anybody is interested, PM me. They will be cheap.

Mark, I've been reading some on "Servethehome" about being able to set different frequency and voltage on the 7002 Epycs, especially the ES versions. I did see that there is a thread for changing both on the 7001 line also and the ES versions seem to be unlocked. You might take a look and see if it is easy / possible for your 7551's to at least be set close to a retail stock version.

Don't ever listen to me though! I pushed one of my puters too hard in this race and it reset over the night... My hand tuned voltage and frequency curve was too stingy, though it worked last time? If it is not Windows updating on me, it is being too stingy with voltage / power for the frequency requested. I like to squeeze cpus too much I guess.

Hard to perform in a race when your stuff is not even running after a crash! :(
