Yeah.... I've got a better way of transferring pictures from my camera to my computer. I take the SD card out and put it into my $10 card reader :D Works like a charm.

It's amazing how much stores get away with on the prices of their cables.

You can get a USB cable for $3 easy at the right places.

I got so many damn USB cables in my house I should just start selling them for like $30.

our monster cables weren't selling for 20$ (6') so we Clearanced em down to 6$

some guy flipped out when he saw this and bought like 6 of em but i dont really blame him he probably made at least 20$ on eBay if he sold even a few of em.. or maybe he used em all i think he had like 4 of the same one or more likely all that we had left

I got my Monster 6ft USB cable at a steal for $69.99.

The guy at Bestbuy told me the gold plating on the ends will help transfer the files faster AND improve picture quality. He wasn't kidding!! A full Memory Card loads 15 seconds faster on to the computer, and I was going to buy a DSLR, but now I'm just going to stick with my Point and Shoot because the Monster USB cable improves the quality of the pics to level better than DSLR.

Sh!t - I got ripped off.
The guy at Circuit City told me the same thing and I bought it for $89.99.

heh, that's almost as bad as the 120 dollar dryer cable. Yeah, as in clothes dryer.

But in actuality moster does make some high quality cables.

At least in that case the entire cable is of higher quality material. Silver is one of the worlds best conductors. And its not just plated on the jacks as a gimmick to make people think "gold is expensive, so it must be better!". Not defending the obscene price, just saying its better than monster, and obviously aimed at a market segment that will pay ludicrous prices.

gold doesn't tarnish, that is why its used on all sorts of connectors, including the pins on your CPU. you only need plating, because the interior metal isn't exposed to oxygen.

But it isnt silver underneath the gold... Its the same crap all of the other, cheaper cables are made of.

And please dont try to tell me that gold plating the connectors improves speed in any way like companies try to imply ;)

i was refuting your gimmick statement. gold is there to keep the contacts from oxidizing.

But that isnt what it says on the box...

The gold is there for performance/quality.

your contacts not corroding and rusting themselves together doesn't improve performance/quality? i'm not certain on this, but i'd imagine that the signal would be seriously degraded when trying to send it through rust, if it'd even work at all.

Uh... they don't even explain why it's so expensive? Is the cable cryo treated or something? Without any more information, I bet a DIYer could build that cable for something like $200 or so.

Unless litz braiding is more expensive than I thought it was.

EDIT: oh wait. On that same site, I found this. Unless you speaker guys are absolutely crazy, I think that site's all about the snake oil.

None of my computers or AV equipment are out in the rain, I keep all of it in the house so rust isn't a big problem. It's also very rare that any of those things go for longer than twenty or thirty years without being unpluged and moved, so I service the cheap connectors at that time. It is a pain to have to wipe them off, but I think the seven seconds is worth the hundreds of dollars I save.

:( and I thought $300 interconnects were expensive

But honestly, I haven't heard ANYTHING about the quality of knobs in my time at Head-Fi (for headphone amps, anyway). Is this just confined to speaker equipment?

Is that site "The Onion" of audio equipment or something?

As for those cables if anyone says they can hear the difference between those and another high quality cable for more than half that price is just lying to themself.

haha. the super high end audio stuff is crazy micro vibrations? i hope you are suspending that thing in a lead box with fluid dynamic bearings to keep out interference too (but then you could not look at your pretty knobs! . back to BB, last week i found open boxes of Audio Research rca and s-video set and a mini-jack to rca adaptor, total was like 25 bucks. i was happy. i don't think i could beat that with shipping for those cables.
