Yesterday Sam's Club had 17" and 19" NEC CRTs for $108 and 129 respectively. Don't know the models as I was rushing to get some milk. As always with these wherehouse clubs, YMMV.

Whoo boy, this 17" LCD looks like a GREAT deal -

$50.00 - Sony SDM-HS73/H (1280x1024) - CompUSA SKU:302024 [04/04-04/10]

Ah, well, it looks like $50 is the rebate, it's $499.97 after the rebate.

Still, a great post.

If you believe this, you have never looked at a non-trash 19" CRT. I noticed the 17" CRts you have listed are ultra low end crap with the exception of the HP FS7550, maybe only seeing the very low end of CRTs is why you think this? The MX704 is particularly crappy, even though it is the highest priced CRT in your list.

I, for one, do not plan on getting an LCD any time soon. I do plan on purchasing a CRT with the PC I'm building in a couple weeks, however.

LG 915 FT plus $169.88 at J & R Computer World

2048x1536 @ 69Hz
1920x1440 @ 73Hz
1600x1200 @ 85Hz

0.24mm stripe pitch

Found the product page for this on the UK LG site, not the American site. Interestingly, review sites list horizontal refresh as 110 kHz not 107kHz, same as F900P, which shows on all sites as a current, not end-of-life model, all other specs identical as well.

UPDATE: Went and bought my new 915FT today. Includes built in 4-port powered USB hub and both the standard VGA connector and 5-BNC inputs. Max horizontal sync is between 111-112 kHz.

To be honest, when I'm not using my laptop (1600x1200 15" LCD), I use a 2x Sony 21" CRT @ 2044x1500 (approx) ...

I have no intention of buying an LCD monitor, since there are none that support the resolution I want (well short of buying Medical Scanner equipment ... but at $15k, I'll live without it)

In my experience, few users ever use the higher resolutions... (a know several who still run 800x600 on 15" screens ...)

Eitherway, hot deals generally do not include top-end equipment ...
