I found one of the TFTs but the store is 3 hrs away, I got the manager to put it on hold called my local OM but they seem reluctant to transfer to my local store to save me the trip. tough choice spend 6 hrs on the road or let a hot deal pass me up.

Personally, I think I'm gonna let it slip.

I had gotten one of the TFT's back when they were $299. I ended up returning it -- picture quality wasn't that great (esp. sitting next to a Viewsonic 15" DFP), quality was shoddy, and they gave me the wrong A/C adapter.

Two hour drive for a Proview at any price probably isn't worth it. :)

As far as I know, the HP M50 (15" monitor) still has a $50 rebate on it. I work at OMax and will check on it tonight and let you all know tomorrow what day the expiration date falls on. If the rebate is still good, that could save someone quite a bit more money.

Hope this helps,

The OM in Vernon Hills and Gurnee IL have NONE of the monitors. :(

I bought one of the 15" TFT one during the summer, it's ok, there is no eye-strain. But I like higher resolutions than 1024x768.

All OUT in Salt Lake City, UT area. No 19"ers or the TFT-15"er.

I was about an hour late at one of the stores that had the 19" monitor. Some guy bought ALL 4 that they had! That sucks! Damn egayers. I just wanted one.

Wow I didn't realize just how much Kansan presense there was in the old Anandtech Forums. I am in Topeka BTW. I also used to work at store 0459 in Topeka, so I like hearing about these deals. Gotta exploit my old working buddies when I can.

checked the store here in West Des Moines, IA. They had the 15" TFT BUT would not sell it to me as they have "lost" the power cable, monitor cable, manual + drivers for it. I was told it is in "unsalable" condition. :(

Bummer! At least no one else gets it!

I still have my TFT from NEO's last post in August! Everyone comes over and loves this monitor to death. The two topics of conversation when they walk in the room are the Flat Panel and my 36" Wega XBR. :D Thanks for a hell of a deal Neo V!

Ok, I've finally figured out there is a difference between the Proview PX-982(5) and the PX-986. Looked at both at the store. Even the employees and managers were perplexed. The PX-9825 which shows as PX-982 on their pull-tag has a UPC code of 746345298206 and the PX-986 UPC code is 746345298602. Luckily for me they shot the UPC gun twice on the PX-982 UPC, otherwise the receipt would have shown two separate UPC's. Don't know what will happen once the clearance prices hit, but the PX-982(5) definitely has a different UPC on the box.

Picked up a 19" PX-982 at one store, new in box. Other store I checked
had no PX-982s. Both stores had PX-986s. HOWEVER, one store had
call tags for both monitors, and they ARE different. They have
different OfficeMax SKUs and unless the PX-986 is also getting
the discontinued price (very doubtful), you won't get any
price reduction on that one...

Oh, and one store had a display PX-982 left. But that didn't
seem like all that hot of a deal, even at $130. Who knows how
many hours have already been logged on it?

...Oh, and both stores had piles and piles of the 200 pack CDRs
that are supposedly going to be free...

Just got back from Max. Spoke to the manager who claimed he knew nothing of the sale. But he did state that the PX-986 is the exact same monitor as the PX-9825 but with the new sku#. I put one of four on hold and will see tomorrow.

You deserve what you get if you think the store managers know the subtle differences in their computer products. Stores don't put different SKU's on the same exact item. The PX-9825 has a .26 dot pitch and the PX-986 has a .25 dot pitch according to the boxes.

PX986 is DEFINATELY not the same as the PX982....sku number is different and dot pitch is the only visible difference that the box shows....according to Neo's list this is not going to be on marked down....The person I spoke to said these are the last monitors they are going to carry(PX986). As most of the stores in my area (DFW,Texas) have Gateway Country stores inside OMax.

I checked two stores in Colorado Springs.
Only found the 14-212620 M50 15" Monitor
and the PX-986. Really wanted the 17" from
IBM for $18. Oh well, ...

Just got back from the Boise Idaho(Franklin) Omax and picked up a 986! But I made sure they used the call tag for the 9825 when it was rang up! Better monitor and I can go back for the refund! They told me this is the replacement for the no longer availabe 9825. They still have a display model here of the 9825 but if you pull that call tag they give you the 986 for the $299 list price. I hope this discount price goes through because I don't care much for Proview anything, and this one stays in the box until the refund is in my pocket!

Glenn

PS Thanks for posting NeoV! Great deal!
