What are you smoking? You think that everyone on this earth with no money is unhappy?

I'd love to see whatever logic you can come up with to support this assertion.

P.S. I think the only thing required for happiness is love--giving and receiving. And I don't mean romantic love necessarily. Taking a genuine interest in other people and having others take a genuine interest in you is the kind of love I'm really referring to here--connecting with other people.

IMO, 150,000 to 200,000 per annum keeps you happy without having to deal with to many lawyers. Not worth enough to really go after you for anything and enough to live without worry (normal spending habits). Now millions would be nice but I won't go outta my way to get there.

Huge gobs of money would make you secure, but it would not make you happy. Happiness comes from within.

yep, i truely believe that money brings happiness. without money, you are nothing. don't have house, don't have food, don't have the basic things that makes you happy. oh yea, love is more important than money? no!!! wtf, can you be in love with your gf and live on the streets? most arguements between love partners are related to money. "oh, i have to work tonite...", "why did you spend so much on food!...", "you shouldn't have bought this...", "i can't make it cause i have to work"...
people who said money doesn't bring happiness are poor people. they never realize what money can do for them, so they just sour grape the whole thing.

I have money. My money is not what makes me happy. Hugging my wife and children makes me happy. Helping my kids do their homework makes me happy. Spending money does not make me happy, it only provides the necessities of life that my familly needs to survive.

If you have no money...you can probably still be content, but no, not happy. Love....that's a nice feeling...unfortunately love won't improve your life (materially), won't get you quality healthcare if you're sick, won't put nice food on the table, it won't do a lot of things money does.

My thinking is simple. Most problems are caused by money, eliminate those problems and you can be happy. Without money, you will always be worried about whether you can make a payment on your house, car...whether you can support your family, whether you can buy what you need/want. You look everywhere seeing poeple with money no having all the problems you're having....

SEE SIG.

Money brings temporary and superficial hapiness through fulfilling material desires. It doesn't compare to the bliss that can be attained by anyone, regardless of their wealth, through the universal spiritual connection.

Simply put no. I am happiest enjoying life as it comes. IMO happiness only comes from within. I know lots of happy people who struggle to make ends meet. I know lots of people who live very comfortably that are not.

Anything you buy with money is temporary. I find I am happiest around my family, friends and when doing good for others as well as me. Nothing makes me happier than doing something for other people.

Money isn't happiness, but it sure makes life more comfortable when you have a good (and regular) income coming in. As far as happiness alone is concerned, there isn't a link. Actually, I was happier in a position about 13 years ago when I only made about 1/5 of my last salary before I was laid off.

People who make more money just have larger bills. It's kind of deceiving because you can look at people who earn great incomes and assume that they can put more into savings than you can. However, in my experience, this really isn't the case.

Rather than play the "keep up with the Jones'" game, we've stayed in our same townhome that we purchased 11 years ago. Because of this, I think my wife, daughter and myself are much happier. Many friends who moved to bigger homes pay about $1,500 more a month in mortgage payments alone - and they're usually more stressed out each month because of all the money they're paying out. I'd rather have a little less when it comes to material things, but have a better quality of life. In this regard, I think that I have succeeded well.

Well if I had money, I wouldn't have to worry about maybe being on the street in a few days.

That would make ME happy.

You've listened well to mother culture's whisperings. Put yourself outside of the Western influence and examine this idea more closely. Hint: There are happy people on this earth without cars and jewelry and computers and houses and country club memberships and DVD collections and Abercrombie jeans and Outback steakhouse.

You're trying to tell me you're happier than them because you have all of these things? Who's to say?

"Money doesn't make you happy, but it's good for your nerves."

A quote I heard some time ago. Pretty much sums it up.
Not enough money makes you worry about bills. If you have enough money you can concentrate on trying to be happy.
Stupid things like a broken car won't turn your life into starvation and not being able to move around.

of course having lots of money would make me happy..how could it not?

everything revolves around money... that's why we go to school and work hard for good grades so we can get good jobs and buy a house and have some money and raise some kids so they can start the cycle all over again for money... real great huh... that's life though and i just go by the rules..

What is happiness. If it's the satisfaction of desire then a scratching dog with flees is the happiest.

This is easy:

Those who have it don't think so, those who don't have it think it does.

What is it for which we long? No man longs for what he does not know. What is this longing?

Yea I guess that's the generally accepted way of thinking. I, however, don't chose to think that way. I go to school because I like learning. As for jobs, I would rather a lower paying job that I enjoy than a high paying job that I hate.

IMO money is not really related to happiness at all. The poorest person can be extremely happy while the richest person can be very unhappy. The opposite is also true. I believe happiness is determined by how you chose to live your life.

BTW, I'm very happy with my life and I don't care how much money I have.

If I could cure all of the world's evils or ills, or have $100 million dollars, I would take the money and run.
"Anybody who tells you money is the root of all evil doesn't fscking have any."

-Jim Young (Ben Affleck), Boiler Room
I never saw the movie, but correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the character you're quoting a scam artist who DOES EVIL for money?

You are correct.
