There is no stupid "liability" for what someone chooses to do to themselves in real life.

I guess I don't have a full appreciation for the SERIOUS BUSINESS that the internet has become.

Still though, that's completely ridiculous the mod just deleted the thread instead of locking it.

Mods around here who get busted for stupidly deleting a thread tend to hide in the shadows rather than publicly explain why, or even admit to doing it in the first place. Trust me, I have some experience with that.

It was locked for about 3 minutes, then deleted around 3:38pm EST

If they locked the guys account I will not support this site until the mod that chose to lock it answers for it.
Thats like cutting the phone line to someone on a crisis line.

There was a name and address posted in the original thread, but sadly thats gone now.

If I was the original poster and they locked my account , I would have seen it as just another example that the world doesn't care about me.

I think the proper thing would have been for none of the moderators to get involved in the thread and just left it alone. That way they have no liability as its just another post.
But by getting involved and locking the thread then deleting it, they are taking a stance .

There was a name and address posted in the original thread, but sadly thats gone now.

The liability argument is crap too. What about all the trolls in broken deals in FS/T over the years. Its not like Ananctech.com becomes an accessory to the crime.

I Just don't get this whole situation.

thats what i was thinking. by locking and deleting everything it just shows that htey don't care and just go do whatever.

nice ot know when in trouble and in a low point of life. when you are thinking of doing something drastic you can come here and get advice and help..ok maybe not they will ban you and tellyou to fuck off.

People sue for anything and everything and even if you're not found liable it doesn't mean you don't lose. The incredible amounts of time and lawyer's fees add up to a whole lot and why should this guy just dump all that in Anand's lap?

Personally, I don't blame them for deleting the thread. In an ideal world, the forum community may have been able to come together to help this guy, but we all know we're far from an ideal world.

Eh well if it helps any, I think his address was 12 Newton Dr in Ontario, but this is going off of my memory. His name was like robert something skell, goskell? Don't remember that part too well. Maybe whoever first posted up the info could repost it. Someone found out his name via facebook matching his e-mail on the forum to that on facebook.

I just got called by Oshowa Police. They said they contacted Robert and he is "getting the help he needs". I don't know if it can be trusted, but it is the dispatcher who called me back, and I assume she wouldn't lie.

I pursued the Oshawa route because it's what was in his profile. Not sure where everyone else is right now because I haven't been following.
