The orangeville police need more information, and since that thread is no longer there, I cant help them. They are at a stalemate at the moment and need some help finding the guy and information.

Can one of you call them? 519-941-2522 x0

mjuszczak already had contacted the police, all that was needed to be done was done. The reason the thread was moved to the Recycle Bin is to prevent others from posting something that may set the OP off. In addition the OP's account isn't permanently locked, it was just locked until things were sorted out.

BTW, along with mjuszczak the staff of AT also contacted the police and was assured that the OP was ok.

Why would it be deleted? Doesn't make much sense to delete someones thread when they are asking for help. He's probably really pissed now.

He's probably more pissed that they actually locked his account. That serves a good purpose. (yes that is sarcasm).

I'm sure this thread will be locked/deleted as well, as soon as a mod sees it.

They deleted it and locked his account? Yeah... thats a safe gamble on the mods end.
Are you kidding me? I hope there is more to the story we don't know that explains why the mods would do that.

I think when something like this happened a few years ago, they cited issues with liability.

Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously? Jesus fucking Christ, way to go Red Dawn. Locking it wasn't an option, of course.

if you're offering help, dont be a smartass? It tends to be more... helpful.

Wouldn't deleting someone's plea for help increase the forums liability if the poster ended up killing himself?

I guess that makes sense. Though I don't see how by leaving the thread open it opens Anandtech.com to any type of liability at all.

Now if they delete it and something DOES happen? That seems like more liability to me.

no its good. it lets people know not to ask here where people could/want to help.

they did the right thing. just delete it and lock the account. let him know where he stands.

i think they did great!

Chill out. I'm sure there were valid reasons behind this. After all, we're only the members, this is not a democracy.

Hope the OP in the other thread gets things sorted in a healthy manner.

We have a nice community here by and large. Happy to be among you :)

IT'S AN INTERNET FORUM.

There is no stupid "liability" for what someone chooses to do to themselves in real life.

I guess I don't have a full appreciation for the SERIOUS BUSINESS that the internet has become.

It was locked, then deleted when I was halfway through reading it.

Mod has some explaining to do. Public explaining.
