I've upset more than a few of my friends by being so trustworthy of people. When I first moved to Cali, I didn't know anyone... I gave the benefit of the doubt to everyone who I met and went out with, and was only burned once. I ended up making some really good friends and meeting some wonderful people... many whom I wouldn't have otherwise gotten to know if I hadn't "risked it" (gone out alone with them after a few exchanged e-mails).
Tonight, I'm going to play chess with a guy who I've never met before... we've been swapping e-mails for about a week, and I initially "met" him when he asked for a transcript of a blind date I'd gone on to see if it could be used for a reality show (long story, search for *sigh* if you're curious). I politely declined, but we kept chatting...
As it turns out, we're both chess buffs. He invited me to his place for dinner and a game of chess tonight... I accepted, cuz it's better than staying in and downloading p0rn.
The guy seems kind and perfectly harmless, but his house is out in the middle of nowhere.
"the address is [removed]. you really need to park on the WEST side of the street. which means you have to turn around at some point and due to the curves and rude drivers, it's a bit intimidating. then you have to find the stairs and then find the address, which you probably won't. it's like a group of guest houses/cottages nestled into the mountains. feels like summer camp here 24/7.
however, parking is the butt kicker usually that throws people, and finding out how to get up into the private offshoot of the area. so... trust me on this one. at night it's rather challenging finding this place.
call me. you'll be here at 8:30 right?"
I've left his address and phone number with two of my trusted friends, so if I disappear, they'll know where to look... does anyone else go out with random strangers on a regular basis? If so, how have your endeavors panned out?
