You like neutral dynamic? :) j/k

I think what you're doing is really stupid. I'm not saying this to offend you - that's just my honest opinion. I'm a 6'1 185lb guy and even i wouldn't go to meet a stranger at some guest house in the mountains at night without a solid weapon. Seriously, i know the odds of something bad happening are low, but by pulling stuff like this, you're increasing them by a thousand times at least.

Do all Starbucks have chess sets? Goodness knows there are a million of them around here...

Pics of the guy (he looks nice and normal)... here's what he sent. I can't tell whether or not they're photochopped, but I only recognize two of the people in them...

Not sure who the guy on the left is.

I think he looks good here, not sure who the guy on the left is.

He looks like their dad here (Mandy Moore and sis?).

I think that's the only fit Fred Durst wears.

Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions/etc... once again, this is why I  ATOT. Even with all the neffing and arguing, I think we really do care about each other as a community...

Honey, you're playing Russian Roulette if you go to his place first.

Is there any reason you can't play chess at a coffee shop or a public park?

I suggested a coffee shop, but neither of us know of any... and he says the chess set he has is a heavy marble one that isn't transportable.
Puhleez.

If you can play with it you can transport it. It's not like it's one of those life-sized suckaz.

Bring your friends Mace and Tazer if you must go to his abode. Sounds like a shady abode, too.

The one that I want to buy weighs 150ish lbs. Care to lug it around for me?

If your looking just to get laid there are many choices here in this forum who live in your area, and you wont have to worry about meeting a disciple of the Manson Family. But i think you are looking for the thrill of the danger involved.

Getting laid is the last thing I'm looking for (seriously!). :) I don't really get a rush from the danger involved, and have never gone out with anyone feeling nervous or anxious... I guess I just like meeting new people and trying new things...?

Here's my take. If the guy is making excuses of why you have to meet at his house he either wants to:

A. Shag you rotten. Of course, who could blame him? In any case, if he wont meet you in public all he wants is to have sex with you.

B. Use your skin as a winter coat. kthxbye!

Tell him you'd like to change it to a public place. If he resists or starts making excuses as to why, the sound you hear should be your warning signals going haywire. If it doesnt work out with this guy, you go ahead and come up to SF and I'll let you beat the pants off me in chess as long as I can annihilate you in Scrabble.

Glad to hear you changed it to a neutral location. Have fun!

Ivy,

Another vote for meeting at a coffee shop. Better to spend $20 on a decent portable chess set (hey, you'll want to play in the future, right?) and be safe. As a guy, I'd understand if you explained that you weren't comfortable meeting in private on a first meeting.

Take care and be safe. :D

Not the old "my chess set is marble" line! I thought that went out with 8 Tracks and "what's your sign?" :)
