ya, well diablo2 isnt very demanding on graphics. d2 is quite a few years old just as cs1 is.

May I suggest the GeForce 6600 vanilla? It's VERY cheap (only ~$100) but still does a fantastic job of gaming - probably more than enough to tide you over the SIX MONTHS or so for the 7800 to significantly come down in price.

And many 6600's overclock to beyond 6600GT levels! :)

Play your games NOW and enjoy them! The 6600 is probably the best bang for the buck by a wide margin!

EDIT: Oh yeah.... ANY modern integrated video will still stomp that Voodoo3. ;)
Keep it in a nostalgia box where it belongs! :p

I still have a V3 3500 (the one with built in TV Tuner) on one of my office computers. I still have fonder memories of that card then any other card, it even came with the original UT. It will run Half Life and other games of similar complexity just fine (including the original CS). Running newer games like Far Cry is pretty much out of the question, but I think you could definitely use your V3-2000 for 2d apps and an occasional 3d gaming session just fine while you wait for a better card. Quake 3 will run on it as well.

if you install it the classic way without steam. theres no glide in the steam version :( (at least i never found it)

you cant play cs 1.5 anymore its done 1.6 is newest no more 1.5 servers are around.

Geez, the last game I played on one of my systems that had a Voodoo 3 in it was UT. Played it great tho. Actually, I pitted the V3 against my then GF3 Ti 200 and the voodoo graphics in UT looked much better than the GF3! Brighter colors on the voodoo. Ahh, I miss my old voodoo. Still have it but I have no mobo with an old AGP slot.

Voodoo ran UT much better due to Glide. I V3 in UT much better than a TNT2, Radeon (orig) or GF2 which I tried on my old rig before....

I know I'd like to wait for a 7800GT to build a rig too.. but I just can't wait anymore man.. 4.5 years..... AHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

At least my laptop can play Warcraft 3 or UT2k3
