YES.

No, you're a Euro-lover, America-trasher. You will blindly bash America any way possible.

For the U.S. Elitists show me a U.S. City not in decay.

Oh, right, another sheep. Right, all US cities are in decay ... and the only people to blame are the evil Republicans, am I right?

Tell me which city is in decay and what is your definition of a decaying city.

Oh and, I cannot wait for the construction to begin on the "Freedom Tower" in NYC! :)

Heh, bet some of you are outraged that its called "Freedom Tower" and not "Peace Tower" or "United Nations Tower".

Folks have been commenting on here and Foriegners visting of how dirty the U.S. Cities are.

Many have crumbling infrastructure.

Crime riddled yet they claim crime is down.

For example I am in New Orleans now. Shootings and Murders dominate everyday. Guys that I am working with had to abandon a Cell site they were working at because people were shooting in the parking lot across from them.

The New Orleans Police never report the events. They put them down as other not so violent things such as domestic dispute with babysitter.

And you think this does not happen in other cities in the world??!!!!!

Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Moscow, London are some of the most crime infested large cities in the world, yet draw a lot of tourists. What is your damn point? Every large city has some undesirable parts to it. EVERY CITY.

New York City's crime rate is extremely down from 10 years ago, all thanks to the tough stance of Giuliani and the hard work of the NYPD.

Well, maybe some of our cities may be a bit messier than others, but you will see that the ones that have the larger number of illegal aliens are the ones doing worse. Don't tell me America cities are crumbling when I could point out the same in any city in Europe. The Europe you guys love so much.

If you're Christian, shouldn't you be thinking on a world-wide scale and saying "God bless the world"?

Again, I'm not a very religious person. I'm a American and will only say "God Bless America". Maybe you can start a "God Bless Europe" movement.

Pretty nice for a bunch of socialist unamerican commies
Big clean citys with well taken care of people and social freedoms? Where do I sign up! ;)

Uhm, Baghdad was/is a nice modern looking, and yet had a tyrannical rule?

So enough America bashing. Oh but wait, every post of yours is anti-American .... so keep on

A large metropolis doesn't reflect the entire country. For instance, New YorK City doesn't represent middle America.

So does Shanghai represent a factory with slave laborers somewhere in Guangdong province? Does Bombay represent Indian child laborers working in a factory in Chennai?

By the way, nice thread Aimster, sorry I had to add these comments. Just had to reply to him.

Interesting you bring this up:
Past year or so I have heard quite a few visiting europeans commenting on the fact that they always heard US is so nice compared to home and come to realize it's become sort of a dump with some scary warmongering whackos running the show.
Anyone want to comment on that from outside the US?

As far as your "every comment I make is anti-american" troll, yes this is my home and if it a mess I will say something about it. Ignoring your house will not get the dishes done or the floor swept. The dirt just piles up.

The U.S. is a dump? Riiight.

Maybe you think that way because you live in San Fransisco. If I lived in a town where you couldn't walk down the street without tripping over a panhandler crapping on the sidewalk, I might think the same.

New Orleans is a sh|thole. Bourbon street is filled with drunk rednecks exposing themselves, and that's the highlight of what New Orleans has to offer (I took a full tour of the city when I was there in 2001). What do you expect?

People here probably have sh|tty jobs and live in sh|tty places. They seem to think every where else in America has as much squalor and problems as their hometowns do.

I don't know what cities you are talking about but big cities I've gone to are looking great. San Francisco is a great big city, so is Seattle. I don't see how you could think our cities are in decay...

I live outside of Detroit and its nothing to be proud of. Its actually pretty sad that a city in the US can look worse than Beirut.

Some parts of San Francisco are great http://www.ruggedelegantliving.com/jour...2003/04/27/san.francisco.roof.deck.jpg
But living here day to day in neighborhoods like the tenderloin is a whole diffrent city:
2 hours of a day in the life of America (BTW this is in 99 the TL is worse now with bush's cuts and obvious disdain of SF.
(I lived across the street and shopped at homeboy liquors for 6 years -a nice little walk through modern america. (and you people think terrorism is a problem bwahahahahaha!)

I've always wanted to visit both cities and they do look nice but can you find a European city that is as bad as St. Louis, Detroit, Gary Indiana, New Orleans, Hartford? Off the top of my head, I can't think of any.

The problem is the U.S has already advanced.

Third World/Second World Countries means they are advancing. Therefore, their buildings are going to look more modern.

A fourth world/fifth world country would just be standing still (EX: Africa)

I have to disagree with people saying the U.S is dirty.
While the U.S might not have "many" modern looking buildings, they do have more buildings than all those countries I listed combined. I can go outside and take pictures of 30-50 buildings. Other nations you can only find such buildings in the capital city.

I shouldn't be alive, they left me for dead. I moved asap. I was scaed a cop would recognize me. What makes me sick is to think those a-holes are probaly working in the government now in a public office.

The judgement of how well a country doing is not in how many building they have, it's how well they take care of the poor. That is the first thing to look for to judge a country. It reflects on the society as a whole. You can tell this country is in serious decline from the attitude -disdain for the poor now from the lucky who were born into sheltered middle class wealth.
Little do they realize they are just a few paychecks away from swilling 40's in the gutter too.
And the people with the money don't truely give a damn about them even though they constantly see the carrot of wealth dangled before them and they myth of the "american dream" repaeated ad nasum to keep them working for less.
The wealthy have no more pity for the working class as the middle class themselves give to the homeless.
-And the once proud ship of liberty- The USA lists and starts it's decent into the murky waters of third world mindset and poverty eating their own on the way down.

Aimster: Thanks for the pics man.
It's nice to show people that these emerging countries are examples of some of the world's best architecture and city planning.

To add to Dubai is one of my faves...it's run by Fairmont.
Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Fairmont is the largest luxury hotel management company in North America offering guests luxurious accommodation in the most sought after destinations.

How about any eastern european city? We are one of the largest countries in the world, of course we are gonna have some not so nice cities. These pictures are pointless anyway. They are pictures of either a skyline or of one or two streets. There are poverty areas in them just like any other city.

I still like looking at them though, I've always liked big cities. They are just kinda misleading.

I live in Charlotte man! It's a small city with a big ego, and ABSOLUTELY nothing to do. It has the basics of any US city, and nothing at all else.

Thanks for the pics Aimster.

I have not been off the U.S. rock and this shows how other Cities are progressing while U.S. Cities are in decay.

For the U.S. Elitists show me a U.S. City not in decay.

You have not been outside of the United States, but you claim to know that the U.S. cities are in decay compared to foreign countries? Dave.. You are just sad. I've traveled to, I'd guess, around 20 different countries so far in my life. While I have not been to every country, I can easily say, perhaps excluding Canada (Which is basically the United States anyway), that the United States as a whole (And I've been to nearly every State), is better than every country I've visited.

Don't take that the wrong way, as I know you will.. I'm not saying there is anything WRONG with these countries I visited.. They are beautiful, the people are friendly, etc.. But once you get outside of the tourist trap, the people are usually POOR.. The poor of these countries would live like KINGS if they had the type of job you claim we only have in the United States (McD's and Walmart).. Dave, you may THINK you have seen poverty, but if you have never left the United States you have NO IDEA what it is. And the funny thing is, is these people appreciate what little they do have more than your sorry ass here in the United States.

Its amazing your opinions about America are so strong Dave, when you have absolutely NOTHING to compare it to. Maybe you need to join the Peace Corp or something and travel a little to get some perspective.. and you will realize how absolutely great it is here in the United States. Its sad when the main thing people like you have to complain about is the lack of choice in broadband service, or perhaps even lack of broadband service in a rural area. THATS not decay Dave, thats called you having too damn much handed to you on a silver platter in this country to even KNOW what you should really be complaining about.

You can say our cities are in decay when you don't have electricity for months after a storm, or you use the river to clean your clothes in because there is no such thing as running water where you live. You can complain when you can get 1 radio station on the AM radio you have, and not DirecTV to you 36 inch TV, and your broadband connection to millions of places on the internet. You can complain when you have to take a crappy motorcycle 30 miles to the nearest market to pack a couple necessities into a bag for your family.. rather than taking your own personal car 5 minutes down the road to Walmart which carries anything you could ever want for any situation.

Dave, you can start commenting on the state of our country when you actually have some life experience. You'd think at your age you would have that by now.. But its clear you are too wrapped up in complaining about things like government taking away your rights because you illegally install software on someone elses computer than to worry about what the rest of the world is like.

Get outside your bubble Dave, the world does not revolve around you and your minor problems which you bring upon yourself.

So basically every article written about how the U.S. is falling off the chart as far as High Speed Internet and Technology progress is wrong???

That's amazing. Every Journalist should be fired.

I see, U.S. citizens should kiss the ground and be happy about their McD and Wally World jobs, of course because they will still be living like Kings compared to the rest of the world. My what high aspirations you have for the U.S.
