I'm working on building an accurately modled '87 Dodge Daytona (it's one of the ONLY models that closely relates to my car, which is the reason I bought it off of eBay 🙂) I'm planning on doing carpeting, plug wires, and anything else I happen to come by. I haven't worked on it for a while, but I painted everything just as I should so far. I'll post pics of it when I'm done 😉

Dorky, yet cool. Nice work. 🙂

Dorky???????????????

Well, yeah....kinda. I didn't mean that in a malicious way at all....I mean, having 6,000+ posts on an internet forum is pretty dorky too, right? 😉

I love building model cars when I was younger then.
when i got tired of any of them... I drop them outside a window and see how many peices fall off.

a bit more detailed than the porsche

Well, that Fujimi Porsche had about 300 pieces to it. Typical Revell-Monogram crappy kits have 100 pieces or less. You can't see how much detail was put into the engine on that Porsche I did (or the detail of the carpet inside). When I finished the engine, I had it sitting on a stand admiring it for about a week 🙂

I just won the auction for the Sauber 🙂 Hopefully, I can go all out on it like that guy did with his. He's got some aftermarket wiring and hoses on his.

This will be the first model I've built in 7 years :Q

Not quite the same class 😉

you said model cars 😉

actually... its not a model of anything, its a purpose-built RC race buggy... so, maybe you're right 😛

Yeah, I meant scale model cars...but the buggy is cool nonetheless 😉

There's just something not right about talking about aftermarket wiring and hoses for a model car...

But anyway, nice Porsche.

Pretty cool... do they sell those as engine kits? or, Do you have to find/buy the parts, or do you have a factory or something?
Sorry, those aren't mine. I was just at a machinist's show in York, PA yesterday and took those pics. You can buy kits for engines like this 18 cylinder radial, but the ones that I posted before were completely one-off. The builders machined everything themselves, including making their own spark plugs (functional, of course). The Merlin is 1/8 scale, which puts it at about a foot long. I believe the blower is functional too, but I'm not positive about that. While you can buy kits for things like the radial I just posted, I'm not sure if that particular radial was assembled from a kit. Most of the kits that I saw were for single-row, 9-cylinder engines. I should also add that those kits require a lot of machine work to assemble.

This is really a hobby for old retired guys with a lot of time on their hands, and more patience than Job. There is no way I could do this stuff.
