If the OP links an article, then anything in the article should be open season. The idea that the OP gets to define what can be discussed in a thread is much too confining.

Well, yes and no. Lets say an article is talking about reforming the tax code, but the poster only wants to talk about capital gains. If someone starts talking about farming deductions that would be off topic (unless it relates to capital gains) even if the article talks about it. Or if the discussion is about the start of the universe and someone uses a link to the book "A Brief History of Time".

But in most cases I would agree with you.

Also, as were discussing this forums moderation, my biggest issue with this forum are two posters that like to insult the UK for seemingly no reason, I'm sure people know who I'm referring to, and if they don't then it's obviously not a problem. If you know what I mean then it's a problem. These two posters everyone tries to ignore, but sometimes it can't be done they derail, troll and attack people in almost every thread they enter, they are ignorant biggots that need to be dealt with in my humble opinion.

Because your statements are continually quoted, they can be referenced.

Your rebuttal here is nothing of substance at all and simply attack on his character because you don't happen to like the fact that he posted.


Getting back on the track of the thread here, more moderation would be good, the trolls, post and run and other undesirable behavior are a bit out of hand. But at the same time a strict by the book interpretation of rules is not the best way to go.
Option 3 is probably the best choice of what is presented.
