A loved one? If you chose a video game over a girl you deserve loneliness.

No, you fool, not me. The girl of my desires has completely shut me out because I don't play nicely with her gaming habits (In other words, I call her or IM her or do somthing that interrupts her playtime, which now amounts to every waking second that she isn't in school or at work)

This is the second time that I've lost to a GDMF game coded by some freaks with nothing better to do than ruin lives and profit from it.

So what you're saynig is, she'd rather play a video game infront of a computer rather than hang out with someone like you. SO either you picked a nerdy girlfriend or you're not worth it to her?

You've never observed an MMORPG player before, have you?

They start out as normal, productive, usually social human beings. The higher their level gets, the more time they want to spend playing. By level 70 in most games, they have totally closed their outside social life. At this point they are terminal - but it only gets worse from there. Then they start to sleep less to play more. Once they're sleeping the bare minimum, they start to skip work and school. Ultimately, they end up damn near unemployed, only doing the absolute minimum to pay for their doritos, mountain dew, and game account.

I've never once seen a player who came out of it after being in for 6 months.

Ahh...you said it so well.
I almost lost myself playing Diablo II(although not a MMORPG but same concept)
Everything is so true....I would not see sunlight in a 3 week period...I only came out cause I ran out of food.
I kept playing more and more...sleeping less and less...because I fear that others were catching up to me on the ladder ??

But you're wrong though....I'm totally reformed. I refused to touch any of those games.

It's not like MMORPGs aren't fun.

If she wants to play, by all means, PLAY WITH HER! Get married in the game, whatever. And when it comes in-game-nookie time, you take a brief break from the game.

Sounds like a workable arrangement to me. I'd rather have a girl hooked on MMORPGs than a wife that won't touch a computer for anything more than checking her email (and even then, she needs me to turn it on).

Wow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ragnarok Online. I'm hooked on the game but not to the point of not sleeping or not working.
I have a friend who quit working and now spending almost his everyday time to play game. It was Gunbound at first but now he is hooked to Maple Story. It's funny though, he used to spend his time with his friends talking about girls and cars, now all they do is talk about the game like a group of geeks :)
