I play Eq2, it has a long way to go before I'd recommend it to new players. Right now Sony is in nerf stage- I'm a crafter and every patch nerfs us more and more so a huge chunk of us are quitting. I've also played EQ, WoW, DAoC, AO, SWG, SB, AC1, AC2 so I've been around, I would say that EQ and WoW were the best 2 in those.

I'm sure they don't charge $10-15/month because that's what it takes to run a server.....they charge it because they can. People will pay it, so they'd be stupid to not charge it. Once people stop paying every month to play the game, I think free online play would reappear. But alas, that is only something I can hope for.

Free online, Fantasyland must a nice place. Can I get a ticket there?

You guys defending the price of the online MMORPGs really overestimate yourselves if you think it is worth it to pay those prices to fvck around in lala land with you for a couple of hours a night. :p

people have different interests and can spend their money in the way they thinks is appropriate. $12-14/month for hours of entertainment is relatively cheap compared to many of the other forms of entertainment available.

It's worth it to me. I have 2 Asheron's Call accounts, so I'm paying $26 per month. That's basically $1 per day for my entertainment. You can't go to a movie or rent a movie for that price.

I don't doubt that it's worth it to some people or so many wouldn't be playing these games. I guess I'm just cheap. And with with my work schedule, family life, other hobbies, friends, and the games that I play offline I'm just fine without them (I think).

But I'd be glad to dump my offline games for a free or very inexpensive MMORPG.

Does it really cost the cable company $75 a month per household to provide cable TV?

Good point. At least WoW can be enjoyed if your IQ is greater than that of a moderately retarded slug. Can't say the same for 99% of what's on TV :(

Asheron's Call is also free, at least for the next year or so. On the fee, don't knock it till you've tried it, oh trolls who pay 5x that much to watch people eat rats & slugs...

Who's:

1. A troll?

2. Paying to watch people eat rats & slugs? I don't watch television if the program is not coming from a DVD. :)

 Linkage?

i think he's referring to guildwars. you just pay the to get the game. i've never played it, but i think it runs about 50 bux for the game. only catch to this is that (so i've heard) the company comes out with more expansions than other mmorpg's and you pay for those.

This isn't an MMOG debate, you posted only to bash them. Why even click the link? If you're bored enough to find trolling fun, perhaps you should give a MMOG a try ;) Do you pay a cable/satellite bill or not?

My wife does actually. The only portion of the cable bill I'm responsible for is the internet. And the initial post asked if you played them and if so, which one. I don't and I stated why. And then I proceeded to state that I'd play if I found the right one. None of that constitutes trolling. IMO.

And this is ATOT, where trolling is status quo. I refuse to be the only poster not allowed to troll here. :)

I am paying about $35 for 16weeks of unlimited access. they offer 2 hours a day for free, but that just doesnt do it for me :) with all that money i save on food, alcohol, cigarettes or whatever other silly waste of money, i sure can afford that much for loads of fun :p

My game is free, and anyone who joins in as a new player in my game and talks to me telling me they are from ATOT I will hook up with a couple levels of experience :)
Shout do a /shout I need to speak to Megadeth... If I am online (Since I am Admin I can be invisible to players if I choose) I will go to your character and hook your player up with some stuff.
I probably wont be on for a few hours because I am at work right now :(
