I did play DaoC, Everquest 2 & Horizons.

WOW is not available over here yet.

I've got the pre-order for Guild wars (next beta weekend on the 18th Feb - World wide, possible release = late April).

i'll spare you the "SOFTWARE FORUMZZZ" crap

It's funny - I am literally refraining from playing RPGs and MMORPGs because I know once I get started, I won't have much of a life outside of it. I get too addicted! Someone recently asked me to start playing Lineage and even offered me a clan membership but I said I didn't have time.

I beta tested UO (still have the beta CD's!), played SWG for a few months after release, and now I've been playing WoW since release.

Used to play UO. Then played EQ for about 2 weeks. Played Asherons Call for a few months and then took a break and recently played COH until WoW. Now its just WoW!

The only MMORPG I have ever played is World of Warcraft. It is also the only computer game my wife, Farmgirl, has even played and she loves it. :(

Played UO off and on since 97 until last year, EQ for a few months when I only had dialup and UO was too slow, then AO for a few months, then Beta tested AC2 and SWG, then played DAOC for a couple years, then played SB for almost a year, then beta'd CoH, then beta'd WoW.

But at this point the genre is stale for jaded vets like me. No developers are doing anything different besides changing/refining the window dressing. For someone new to MMOs, you must be like a kid in a candy store like all the wide-eyed goobers who are spazzing over WoW like it's something other than a direct clone of DAOC.

It's a bad time to get into MMORPGs. What you'll be playing right now is a bunch of formulaic and boring level-grinding faux-"PvP end game" games. What you want to do is build yourself a time machine and go back to 1998 and play UO. That was a triumphant era for a then beautiful game before EA bought Origin and proceeded to systematically destroy the game.

Either build a time machine or wait for 3+ years when the EQ clone MMORPG market is completely saturated and it becomes profittable for someone to make a 3D UO97 clone. Then you'll have a game worth wasting your time on.

I really want to play an MMORPG but I have a problem with paying full price for a game and then having to pay $15/mo to play it. If they're going to charge that much for the subscription then they should subsidize the cost of the game media/packaging/booklet/etc...

I really want to play a very immersive hard scifi MMORPG, EVE Online looks pretty good. How is SWG?

WoW is the first MMORPG I've ever played. i just always liked the Warcraft games and universe, and all the information that kept coming out about the game mechanics that would make WoW a truly great game, even for those who never played an MMORPG before and would not devote 10+ hours a day to playing would enjoy it pushed me into it.

Now I'm addicted! I don't play it much (started about 3 weeks ago, main char is lvl 26), but it is a total blast. Especially grouping up with strangers (and even some people I know and from AT) and kicking ass.

Asheron's Call. Been playin since it's inception. There's an expansion pack schedule for Q1 05 :D

It's still the best MMORPG that my friends or I have played out of the following (DAOC, Everquest, WWII Online, Asheron's Call 2).

It's all about the monthy updates/story lines/events. :)
