Which server is that? Mine seems to be doing fine but I wouldn't be surprised if they start announcing server merges within the next couple of months.
Estrael seems to be doing OK, but it was never a high pop server to begin with. As best as I can tell, we're maintaining the medium-sized player base we've had for a while. (This is all speaking in regards to the Defiant side, no idea how the Guardians are doing). No real complaints, but then again I would like to see a higher population and share Phobic's hope that mergers happen sooner rather than later.
My real beef is that the poor quality and "let's add to the grind" mentality of Patch 1.2 might have scared off a lot of players for good. For example:
1) Yes the expert dungeons are easier now, but many boss fights in the T2 dungeons are buggy. The plaque of achievement earning rate and epic-quality loot drop rate in expert dungeons have been nerfed, so the "loot throttle" was dialed back hard.
2) Planarite takes much longer to earn than it used to. I don't know how anyone can realistically save 15k for the repair medic or 25k for the second sight talent. Even saving 7500 for a backup planar focus engine will be tough now, when before the patch that represented one day, or a couple of nights, of participating in major invasions.
3) The LFD tool - which was a huge selling point of 1.2 especially for people with odd play times or in "guilds of friends" - is buggy in terms of determining whether you are eligible to join a queue (I have 154 toughness and can't get into a T2 queue half the time. Really?)
4) Expert rifts don't drop inscribed sourcestone any more. You get inscribeds from doing the expert rift dailies now - except that the NPC who hands them out is bugged, so you can't get the dailies.
5) The new 10-man raid (another selling point of 1.2) is seriously overtuned for a more casual audience. My guild is progressing in Greenscale, and even our "A" team of players doesn't want to mess with it. I have no problem with tough content, but why make a 10-man so brutal, when that's where your smaller/more casual guilds will naturally look in order to raid as a group?
Anyways, I'm fortunate in that I can at least I can raid in Greenscale and help my guildmates out by tanking experts without feeling the pressure of needing gear that never drops, but I feel bad for the newer 50s in my guild, or for people who are rerolling or playing alts. Trion has been pretty good about making tweaks with past patches, so let's hope they make some tweaks to drop rates, clean up a few boss scripts, and just make the game a little less harsh.
